If anyone is willing to have a look at the KC Directories for John Dilwin HAMRICK and his contracting company, J.D. Hamrick & Son, I'd appreciate it. He was living in KC in 1924 (he would have been 77) but I can't find him - or wife Sarah - after that time and perhaps the directories would offer a clue. Also, I wonder if there were other newspaper articles that followed the ones posted elsewhere in this thread. The barber shop porter, James MARTIN, was indicted on grand larceny charges for robbing John HAMRICK so there might have been something more on that arrest. (Article dated 24 Jun 1907, KC Star.) I have numerous newspaper articles about the Alkano Remedy Co. owned by his son, John Dilwin HAMRICK, Jr. but the father is my focus here. Pat Westmoreland:? Thank you for info you found on John's house being deliberately?torn down to stop the conflagration on the square in 1850. WOW!!? They must have rebuilt as in microfilm I have from state archives, Polly Ann Kelly, the widow, got a lot of lumber in 1867 or so to make repairs on the house through estate and their friend, attorney George Buchanan, that administered the estate.? I also find where Polly sued George and her children for some reason and I have to return to library to use microfilm reader.? I need to read some good histories on area in that timeframe. Just joined Mid Continent Library for twenty bucks, hope I can find more. Thanks again,? Hi Hougher's & Curtis and Linda: Researching Missouri History Books on Ancestry for my partner's ancestors and?here are these two in Jackson county MO.. Samuel B. Hough came to Kansas City circa 1880 from New Jersey.? Not much known but was successful in real estate after being a Traveling Salesman for six years.? He was on city council as a republican in 1896.? No history. Warwick Hough, lawyer and jurist was born in Loudon county?VA, Jan 26, 1836, son of George W. and Mary C. (Shawen) Hough (not in my FTM files either)?Earliest known ancestor was John circa 1750 who removed from Bucks county PA to Loudon VA and there married Sarah Janney.? Also of Bucks to Loudon.? Sarah was great aunt of Jogn Janney, pres. of Virginia Secession Convention of 1861. This John Hough was grandson?of Richard Hough etc of the Endeavor etc.? removed to St Louis, sold goods and on to Jefferson City MO..Info all located in Volume 3, pg 302 of Missouri History. Interesting.... Anyone have them??? Or not??? Warwick is definitely one of ours and who does George belong to??? Bob Long Mary Hough, Zemeriah Blake Hough, Joseph Hough, William, John, Richard (I believe)?
