New homes have been built in this area. Is anyone familiar with this cemetery? The following was written in 1989. Moore Cemetery Section 12, Township 48N, Range 32 On farm formerly known as the Grinter Farm. Now owned by Hans Dierks. This cemetery is N of the new Jackson County Neurological Center on Little Blue Road, about 300 feet and over the dividing fence. It is surrounded by a chain-link fence, and is about 60 x 100. In 1989, there was only one monument in the enclosure: Moore, William, b: 1757, d: 1843 Revolutionary Soldier Enlisted Feb. 14, 1776 in Col. Morgan's Virginia Regiment (handsome D. A. R. marker at grave) Engaged in the battle of Stillwater and Chestnut Hill Below this marker is a plaque: In honor of the service in the War of 1812 Moore, William, Corporal NS USD 1812 Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Obituary for Isaac N. Brown: This is the correct Isaac. Died, at Quinlan, Oklahoma, May 15, 1907, Isaac N. Brown, age 66. He was in feeble health when he left here on May 5th to visit his son, thinking a change would be beneficial for him, but he lived only ten days after his arrival. He was admitted to the home from Chillicothe, Dec. 23, 1897 and served in Company A, 45th Virginia infantry (Floyd Guard). Burial at Quinlan. The family you previously listed was his, but the dates were all wrong. I had also never seen a sister named Arbilla, so that will be interesting to research. All of the other sibs stayed in VA, except Thomas, and he came to WA state. So my only missing link is Isaac and this new sister, Aribilla. Mary Shortridge was supposedly born ca 1857 in Buchanan Co. VA. I have not found any ties in Indiana, except one. Isaac Newton Brown had a brother, Ambrose Brown, who apparently left VA and went to Indiana sometime Bet. August 15, 1850 - July 13, 1867. As of 1897 he was not listed on his grandfather's will. I have found this info: The oldest boy was Ambross he went west and took Measels on the roade and took cold and died in Indiania. Source: Mathias A. Hi Ann, And you can bet the given name of Arbilla will have many creative misspellings. I'm glad to be of help. And thank you for posting Isaac N. Brown's obit. Aha! I went through SOS, but not online. The information wasn't entered yet. Okay. Thanks. I guess I have everything I can access due to the year of death. My memory gets blurred sometimes and I don't have my files in front of me. Thank you for your replies. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. One more question: what year did the death of your relative take place? The reason why I ask is because I have an ancestor who died in 1904. I have some information but need a record that gives the names of the parents of the deceased. Carol Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I was saying that I should have went through the state to get the copy of the death certificate. Instead, I went to the Kansas City Health Dept. at 24th and Troost to get a copy, which I thought would be identical to the one from the state. The cost is the same, but the only information they give on a "certified" death certificate there is the name of the person along with birth and death dates and a very vague cause of death. In fact, the certificate I got from the K.C. office said that death was due to inhaling food or vomit. The copy I now have from the State Health Dept. says she died of renal(?) failure and it also givees me the informants name and where she is buried. In the future I will only get certificates from the State office. Hope this helps. Glen Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. SOSMO is the least expensive way to go, if you don't need a certified copy. You print them off yourself most of the time. BUT not everything is available and right now not the war years nor after 1956 or before 1910 And remember Jackson county has two sets Jackson Co. and Kansas city, these were separate.
To All, I did a little searching and came up with the following. I think I'll give them a call tomorrow to see if by chance they have any 1904 "delayed" records. At least I'll know one way or the other. I want to thank everybody for your input. Carol http://www.dhss.mo.gov/BirthAndDeathRecords/index.html Maintaining a central registry of Missouri births, deaths and fetal deaths reported from January 1, 1910 to the present (some delayed filings from births and deaths prior to 1910 are available) Contact Us Bureau of Vital Records Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services P.O. You say, "And remember Jackson county has two sets Jackson Co. and Kansas city, these were separate." Would you elaborate more on that, please? I don't understand. My relative died in 1904 in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri. Thanks. samuels <[email protected]> wrote: SOSMO is the least expensive way to go, if you don't need a certified copy. I find your topic interesting. Are you saying you sent for a death record through Vital Statistics at the State of Missouri and received a certified or non-certified copy of the record? Would this be through the SOS MO site that is mentioned often at this message board? Carol Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Health Dept. is not a complete certificate which didn't list any of that information. If anyone else that reads this is needing a death certificate for someone who died in Jackson CO., don't go to the county health dept. for a copy. Get it directly from the state, it has ALL of the information on it. After I paid another 13.00 through the state I got all the info and found my aunt. Thanks again Gary Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
