This is for a record of a man that was in Leavenworth Penitentiary that I believe to be my great-grandfather's brother. The file is 31 pages long and I am trying to avoid wading through all that plus having to pay to have it sent to me. I understand it is free to look up info in NARA's research room and I am only interested in 2 basic pieces of information: 1) was this man from Carbondale, Illinois? 2) what was his crime? 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: Patricia Tharp Surnames: BODDY, ANDERSON, STAPP Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.jackson/6264/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Has the Sheffield Press been microfilmed and if so where are copies located? Does Sheffield still exist or has it become incorporated into Kansas City? To obtain a marriage record of someone married at Sheffield in 1913, would one contact the Jackson County Clerk? My great-aunt of Norton, Kansas (Florence Boddy) married William Anderson (also of Norton, Kansas) in Sheffield in 1913 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Riffey by Rev. E. H. Stapp. Norton is located in the opposite end of the state and I'm trying to figure out the connection. A "local" printed in the Norton newspaper quoted the Sheffield Press: "The Press joins the young people's many friends in well wishes and congratulations." This makes it sound as if both had lived in Sheffield, which is news to me. Florence "Flossie" was a school teacher before her marriage; possibly she taught in Sheffield??? Also, does anyone know which church Rev. E. H. Stapp was associated with? Thank you very much. Sincerely, Patricia Boddy Th! arp Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
