    1. [MOIRON] Re: Fosters of Iron County
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Foster Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/zMB.2ACI/844.1.1 Message Board Post: I'm somewhat sure the George P Foster I'm looking was born in Missiouri, maybe Ohio. But his parents came from Ohio. The marriage you have listed is the correct marriage. I believe part of the hardness of finding him is that he joined the Union Army in CA and was suppose to be helping to protect the poney express routes. He was with Company E, 1st Cavalry Regiment California. Later coming back to Missouri and marrying Lucy. Someone provided me information that he was listed in the 1876 Missouri Census with Lucy and a daughter Cora. A family tape I have mentions that George P Foster II (his son) had a long lost sister. ( I wouldn't have thought to look in CA without the tape and some of the stories on it ). He was a Freemason there, I confirmed it with the Missouri Grand Lodge: "George P. Foster’s Masonic membership was with Mosaic Lodge #351 in Belleview, Missouri. George Foster was initiated into Mosaic Lodge on May 16, 1874." I'll look at the 1880 census, but the ages seem too young. Add that to the fact he was in Missouri in 1874, and the 1876 census I would guess since he died in Missouri, he probably lived in Missouri in 1880. Sometimes I wonder if he was avoiding the census taker.
