Iron County was organized on Febuary 17, 1857 from Madison, Reynolds, St. Francois, Washington and Wayne counties. If there are any death records, it would most likely be in one of those counties. Do you know what religion they were? I've had very good luck in getting death dates from the churches. If you know what part of the current Iron County they lived in, that might help narrow it down.
