    1. Re: [MOIRON] HARBISON
    2. Janet
    3. Good news........ I have found your Margaret HARBISON in the 1870 census living at home with her parents...... So far I havn't found her father Barton in the 1860 Census, however I have found her father and his sibilings and his parents in the 1850 St Francois County Missouri Census......... At least you now know that the HARBISON's were first in St Francois County and then Iron County...... Perhaps you can find John & Barton by searching the hard way, line by line and page by page........... This should keep you buzy for awhile by following thru on all these families........ You mentioned on your website that Margaret was a full blooded Blackfoot......... In my opinion I don't think so....... All the records indicate the family was White and in the earlier days the Indians usually were on a different census........ So far there isn't any DOUGLAS's in the Census records......... In the 1910 Census Gilbert SCHNELL is listed as the head of household, therefore Margaret is *his* sister-in-law......... 3. If Margaret did not claim to be indian, she would be listed as white. I have seen this many times. Indians were not allowed to own land, etc.. so many, if not most did not claim their heritage.
