QUARTERLY PROCEEDINGS. Iron County F.A. [Farmers Alliance], No. 122, at the Courthouse, Ironton, January 15th and 16th, 1889. The 7th Quarterly Session of the Iron County F.A. convened in the courthouse in Ironton, Mo., January 15, 1889. The president (J. McPherson) not being present, the body was called to order by W. M. O'Neal, the Vice-President, at 2:30 P.M., and J. T. Brooks was appointed vice pro-tem. Officers present: W. M. O'Neal, Vice-President; J. G. Hartman, secretary; W. T. O'Neal, treasurer; Joel Lewis, door-keeper; and W. P. Wyatt, assistant door-keeper. OPENING. The County Alliance was opened in due form with Bro. J. E. Low acting as Chaplain, J. W. Crowley being absent. The President appointed the following Committee on Credentials: J. T. Brooks, J. E. Low and W. B. Kemper. Minutes of previous meeting read by the secretary, and adopted. Committee on Numerical Strength appointed by the President as follows: John S. Marsh, A. R. Manly, and John Probst. Committee to get up programme of business for the session, as follows: J. E. Low, R. Erbschloe, and W. P. Wyatt. Committee on Credentials reported favorable, and report accepted. It was found by above report that there were eleven Sub-Alliances represented, and six that were not represented. Committee on programme submitted the following order of business: 1. Calling the roll. 2. Reading minutes. 3. Appointing committees. 4. Report of committees 5. Unfinished business. 6. New business. 7. Business with State Alliance. 8. Election of Vice-President. 9. Election of Lecturer. 10. Business pertaining to Legislative matter. Adjourned to meet at 7 o'clock P.M. 7 P.M.--After prayer by the Chaplain, the house proceeded to business. The question of electing a lecturer was discussed, but, by a vote of the house, was deferred until Wednesday morning. Moved and carried that the President W. M. O'Neal appoint a Vice-President for the remainder of the term, (Bro. J. M. McPherson having moved away, sent his resignation to the Secretary, which was read and accepted), and the chair appointed J. E. Low as Vice-President for the unexpired term. After a few remarks from the new Vice, he took his seat. Adjourned to meet at 8:30 A.M. Wednesday. 8:30 A.M. WEDNESDAY. After regular opening forms, the house proceeded to nominate candidates for county lecturer. Bros. W. T. O'Neal, W. P. Wyatt and J. G. Hartman were placed in nomination. On first ballot there was no election, and on second it was a tie between Messrs. Wyatt and Hartman, the President deciding in favor of Mr. Wyatt. It was then moved and carried that we assess the members of each Sub-Alliance 10 cents for the next quarter, to pay county lecturer and to defray other expenses for the good of the order. Committee appointed to draft a petition pertaining to Legislative matter was read by Foreman and received by the house. Moved and carried that the delegates be instructed to have secretary of each Sub-Alliance to report proceedings of their meetings in the IRON COUNTY REGISTER at least once a month (that is such part as is necessary to come before the public.) Moved and carried that our Business Agent be requested to be present at our next regular meeting in April. Moved and carried that we do away with all the officers except the five leading ones, and appoint the others out of the delegates present at each meeting, and have the subordinates to pay their expenses. The above move was made in order to get the County Alliance in better shape financially. The numerical strength of the county was about 400, and the representation very good, considering the inclemency of the weather and high waters. Adjourned to meet the second Tuesday in Tuesday (sic), 1889, at 2 o'clock P.M. Previous to adjournment the members and delegates of the Iron County F. A. donated enough to buy Mr. Eli Ake a box of cigars. The President appointed a committee of two to purchase the cigars and take them and present them to Mr. A., as follows: Messrs. W. T.
