OBITUARY. DES ARC, Mo., Jan. 16th, 1889. Died, at his father's residence, January 13th, near Des Arc, Mo., William F. Jordan, in the 25th year of his age. Having taken the fell destroyer, Bright's disease, some five months since. God only knows the intense suffering he had to undergo; but through it all he bore it as patiently as it was possible he could. It seems that he knew his end was near for he lost no time in making preparations to meet his God, and about three weeks before he died he called his father to his bed, and told him he could not live, and that he was ready and willing to go. From that time on he often spoke of dying and wanted us to meet him in heaven. The night before he died he told us to have his funeral preached by Bro. V. T. Settles and to bury him at Des Arc to which request we complied. We now feel our loss is great, yet confident it is his great gain. For we are well satisfied that he has gone to that blissful land; where there is no sickness, suffering or death, but eternal joy and gladness. And now may we all be able to leave this world of trouble as he has left it with a full assurance of mee! ting around the throne in heaven. And now we, the bereaved and heart stricken family, extend our heartfelt thanks to our many friends who helped us watch by his bedside, both day and night, through his long-continued suffering.
