He was bon July 17, 1915, in Ironton, a son of the late Jacob Henry and Rosa Ellen Crocker Spitzmiller. On Feb. 12, 1942 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Dinger who Survives. To this union was born five children, Walter J. Spitzmiller Jr. of Pilot Knob, Betty Lou Spitzmiller of Rochester, Minn., Jerry Spitzmiller of Arcadia, Beverly McKenna of St. Louis, and Stephen Spitzmiller of Farmington. Also surviving are a brother, Norman of Sikeston, a sister Adele Townsend of Cape Girardeau, 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by: Four brothers: Paul, Bob, Ermal and Ralph Spitzmiller. Mr. Spitzmiller was a 1931 graduate of Ironton Highs School and received a BS in Education from S.E. MO State University in 1936. He was a Teacher, Letter Carrier, Owned and operated Accounting, Tax, Insurance, Building Contracting, and Real Estate Businesses'. He also served on many Boards, including School, Reality, Farm Bureau, and Federal Land Bank Board. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ironton. During WW II he served his country in the United States Army, receiving the Bronze Star. After 17 years of service he was discharged as a Major. Visitation will 5 - 8 p.m., Saturday, at Bryson Funeral Home in Pilot Knob. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Sunday, March 4, from St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ironton, with Rev. Ronald Simmons officiating. Interment will be in Arcadia Valley Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the Family request memorials be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
