My second great grandmother is Margaret Jane BARTON, daughter of George Washington BARTON and Catherine REESE, married Marquis D' Lafayette LEWIS, the son of James Marion LEWIS and Emiline SULLINS. Your John Wayne is a grandson of John BARTON and Mary "Polly" EARLS. George Washington is the son of the John and Mary. John Wayne BARTON married Sarah SMITH( born 9/18/1871, died July 1901) before 1896. John Wayne BARTON married second Louisa ALMO, the daughter of George ALMO and Anne STINNETT. Louisa was born 1/6/1880 and died 10/20/1969. Sarah, as is Louisa- apparently remarried an ASHER, is buried in the Barton Cemetery, Oates, Reynolds County, Missouri. http://www.rootsweb.com/~moreynol/barton.htm The children are of John Wayne BARTON and Sarah Smith are Richard "Dick" (married my great grandaunt Novie Cecil LEWIS), Easter Louise, Lee and Viena Virgie.---- I am apparently missing a William and you Lee but I could be wrong about that. The children of John Wayne BARTON and Louisa ALMO are Joseph Legion, Velva, Milton, Levi, and Ida Belle. Viena Virgie BARTON was born 11/6/1898 in Reynolds County, Missouri and died 3/11/1988. She married John ALDRIDGE 3/15/1920. They had seven children which I hesitate to name because I know nothing of their life span and some could still be living. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, November 11, 2003 7:21 AM Subject: [MOIRON] Re: Barton > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/zMB.2ACI/81.77.82.146.1 > > Message Board Post: > > Your message post is quite old now, but, in the past few weeks searching for my Granfathers relatives, I found out that your Viena Virgie Barton, was my G'fathers sister. Their were four children born to John Wayne Barton and Sarah Smith, William Arthur(my G'father), Jan8, 1889, Richard (Dick)6-10-1896, Viena Virgie4-6-1898 and one other female I have found nothing on, as yet. Your Viena was confirmed by my Aunt who recalss as a child talk of "Aunt Viena". for abit more info on their ancestors, check out www.bartonsite.com. Its where I found this line of my ancestory. Please email me if you would like to communicate and possibly trade some info. BTW it seems that Sarah Smith, Viena's mother died young in 1901 @ 30 years old. This was confirmed by my G'father when he was alive, he was 11 and left with possibly three younger siblings to care for. > I would enjoy knowing more about Virgie as well as the others. I met Dick in 1976 @ his home in Ironton, Mo. It seems everyone thought Dick was a step brother, although they could pass for twins at the time. > > > > ==== MOIRON Mailing List ==== > HERMES Surname List coordinator > WENSTROM Surname List coordinator > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 >
