    3. You must be the child, parent, spouce or sibling of the veteran. For genealogical purposes there is still a charge. I ordered my dad's and had my mom sign for her father's. If you are doing this for a grandfather, etc.... you will need to go to the National Archives to order the records. http://www.archives.gov/ National Archives http://www.archives.gov/research_room/genealogy/ National Archives genealogical page. As I stated before, if you are a direct relative (parent, spouce, child) of a deceased veteran, you can order a free copy of the military record from: http://www.va.gov Veteran's Affairs page The above Veteran's page is under upgrade this weekend, but will be available soon.
