This does not apply to the associated message. Sharon, my name is Pat Bowen and I am helping a friend develop her tree. I just stumbled over the Iron County site last night and noticed several of your posts. I was looking for a James Riddle son of John H. Riddle and Mary London. He was born about 1838 in Indiana and he left the family between 1850 and 1860. I have a "gut hunch" that he married in Iron County. I found the father/mother in Iron County in 1860 with an older half brother Meredith Monroe Riddle b. Feb 1837. Would you have any information on this/these families? I found two James Riddle of about the same birth years but am unable to prove which would be correct. My friend is descendent from John H. Riddle/Sara Lundry (I'm puzzled over the wife's name), Meredith Monroe Riddle/Mary Francis LeMasters, Charlotty Ida Riddle/William H. Hackworth, Wiley Russel Hackworth/Jennette Jane Toy, Wanda Jane Hackworth. I am unable to locate any information on Sarah Lundry other than a One World Tree mention for the marriage. Meredith Monroe Riddle married Ruth Reed in Madison County, Mo in Oct 1856; she died before 1868 in Missouri. He then married Sara Jane Snow 24 Feb 1868 in Iron County, Mo; she died 10 Dec 1876 in Randolph County, Arkansas. Thanks in advance for any help you may have on these individuals. Pat Bowen Florida

Will this library really help us in Iron, St Francois, Wayne, Shannon Counties? *********** This news was current back in Sep '06. Missouri and Kansas were mid-stage settlement places for the Irish of the mid to late 1800s on their trek from the East to West Coasts. The involved library is already well-known in the area, which is Independence, Missouri. It will likely become known much more widely. ********* The Mid-Continent Public Library recently bought 6.5 acres in Independence and plans to build what it calls a world-class genealogy center. The new center will be at the southwest corner of Lees Summit Road and Kiger Road, just south of the Drumm Farm Golf Course. Construction is expected to start in May and be completed in the spring of 2008. Library Director Richard Wilding estimated that he 52,000-square-foot, two-story facility will cost about $8 million to $9 million; it paid $550,000 for the land. He said the library plans to launch a fund-raising campaign. The new center will house a collection of family history from Missouri and Kansas, as well as national and international collections. This is expected to become the only facility of its magnitude in the region, Wilding said. It wont be as large as the Mormon Family History Center in Salt Lake City, but that is a private facility. Wilding said he hopes it will be similar in stature to the Allen County Public Library Genealogy Center in Fort Wayne, Ind. Mid-Continent Library already has a genealogy center on U.S. Highway 24, across from the Truman Library. Wilding said the 12,000-square-foot space was full and didnt have enough space for researchers anymore. Wilding said the new building should accomodate the genealogy center for at least the next 20 years. It also will provide a lunchroom for researchers to use and a separate programming room for the libarary to hold genealogy classes.

Are you talking Evelyn Nash or Evelyn Sutton or Saphronia (Fronnie) Nash or Sutton? I do have quite a few Evelyn Nashes in my files. One would have been a niece of my Grandmother's Alice (Sutton) Nash. I also know of a Saphronia Nash (who was either a daughter in law or perhaps even a wife of my William Nash, not sure if the relationship here, as she was quite a bit younger than William) in Carter County, Missouri, listed on the 1860 US Census Records. I have our family tree "The Webs We Weave", posted on Tribal Pages. My website url is: http://www.tribalpages.com/tribes/jdwafford The Password needed to view the website is my maiden name: Nash Please take a look and if you see any familiar names, please email me at: ograndma@bmi.net I'd love to hear back from you, and would like for you to sign my Guest Book when you visit.
