    2. Joyce Nash - Wafford
    3. Thank you so much, Virginia. My niece and her family need all of the prayers that we can get right now, no matter who they are from. God does work miracles, and we do know that He has had His handupon her since birth. Thank you so very much. And no, I do not know you, but your name is very familiar. I am sure that I have seen it on the IRON County List. I would like to ask if you are any relation to Joyce (Nash) Reinhart, who was born in Caledonia, MO., the daughter of Richard Paul Nash and Betty McIntire, Granddaughter of Kelly Lee Nash and Zella Mae Jaycox.? I do not know Joyce's husband's given name, but I do know that she married a Reinhart. Again, Thank you for your prayers. Rucker, on 14 July 1897, on Page 392. Let me know the copying cost and postage. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Quigley, Ringer Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.iron/2388.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Thank you for going to so much trouble on my behalf. I was told by family members that my Great Grandfather William Quigley was born in Ireland (County Cork) and came to the United States as a young man. He was running from trouble. He married Menetta Bell Ringer. I don't know when or where. She supposedly was born in Cape Girardieu, Missouri but I have no proof other than what is stated on my Grandmother's birth certificate. It was also told to me by my Dad that Menetta's parents were both from Germany. My grandmother said that two children were born before her that died before they were two years old. My Grandmother went by Bedelia Caroline but I found her birth certificate saying her name was Bridgit. Bedelia's daughter, my aunt told me that Bedelia said that Bridgit and Bedelia meant the same in Irish. I did find that on some site too. My Grandmother Bedelia always said she was born in Cape Girardeau, MO but I found that she was born in Pilot Knob, Missouri. Bridgit C. Quigley b. July 10, 1887 in Pilot Knob, Missouri. She is the 5th child born to William Quigley, age 39 and born in Ireland. He is a miner. His wife Menetta Ringer is 28 and she was born in Cape Girardeau, MO. William and Menetta had two other living children at the time of my Grandmother Bedelia's birth: William M. Quigley b. Cripple Creek, CO March 2, 1884 (I personally don't think he was born in Cripple Creek.) Menetta (called Nettie) was born in Cape Girardeau, Mo. June 2, 1885. I have not verified William and Nettie's birth place, only by their family members say so. I was given the following information online: John Alber Undertaking Business, Ironton, Mo. 1882:September 19 - William for his son, John age 18 months, summer complaint, buried at iron Mountain. A lady named Beetye on Rootsweb told me that there is an Iron Mountain Cemetery that lists a John Quigley being buried there. The date given is Sept. 19, 1882. Listing indicates he is the son of William. I found a Mena Ringer as the daughter of Alfred Ringer in the St. Louis County, Missouri census in 1870. Mena is 12. Alfred and his wife are from Wurtenberg. That would have Mena born about 1856. I have found that dates and ages are not always accurate in census records. Supposedly Great Grandpa William Quigley died in 1893 in the Cripple Creek, Colorado area. He was a miner and a member of the Modern Woodsmen. This again is information handed down through the family. Menetta Quigley shows up in the Altman, Colorado City Directory: Quigley, Minaty W. widow of William es n of Baldwin ave. Minatz Quigley marries Bennard (Should be Bernard) Herbst July 20, 1897. The marriage is registered in El Paso, County. In the 1900 City Directory for Altman, Colorado it says: Quigley Hall (Ben Herbst) e. Baldwin I recently found an article in the Publication online: Morning Times (Cripple Creek, El Paso County); Date:1899 Feb 03 Friday; Section:Front page; Page Number: 1 Died in Altman, Mrs. Ben Herbst, age 30 years, died at her home after a lingering attack of pneumonai. The deceased leaves four small children. No arrangements have yet been made. I think the age is wrong or I am having trouble reading the old paper.) In two following articles, her funeral was held at a Catholic church at Altman. Father Carr officiated and she was buried in Mt. Pisgah cemetery. There is no record of her grave at Mt. Pisgah so she must be in an unmarked grave. Her infant child followed several days later dieing of pneumonia. This must have been a child by Ben Herbst. Grandma always thought her mother died in childbirth. I do not know any names of family members prior to William and Menetta (Mena, Minnie, Minatz). Grandma thought that William might have had a brother named Peter and a sister Bridgit. She just remembered those names. I wish I had been more interested in knowing about my Grandma and her youth. She died in 1975. I am going to run off the information you gave me and study it more thouroughly. I always felt that the family in the Pilot Knob, 1880 census was my Great Grandfather. I had heard from someone that men joined the service in ironton, near Pilot Knob. I thought there was a possibility that since there is a James McCue in that household along with a William Quigley in Arkansas, that they could be the same people. I do not know when the census was enumerated for those areas. Thank you again for going to such depths to help me. I so appreciate your kindness. Eellitta russetred@msn.com

They are both Privates in Co. E 13th U.S. Infantry Was your William Quigley actually born in '1848' and in 'Ireland'? If so, the one listed in the 1880 Iron County Census may not him. That William Quigley was born in 1830 Ireland. The enumeration date was June 8 & 9, 1880. 1880 Pilot Knob, Iron, MO William Quigley abt 1830 Ireland Self Minnie Quigley abt 1857 Missouri Wife Annie Quigley abt 1879 Missouri Daughter James McCue abt 1850 Ireland Boarder I haven't had luck finding this same Iron Co. family in any other census. It would have helped to double check the birth year between the census records. What information do you have that you know to be accurate on your William? Was he actually born in Ireland? Do you know his wife's name or any of the children's names? What states did he live in? In 1880, the same year, there was another William Quigley,in the approximate area. His father was born in Ireland, but he was born in MO [1873]. 1880 Saint Louis, Saint Louis, Missouri [Enum:June 1880] Patrick Quigley 50 Ireland Ellen Quigley 50 Charles Quigley 23 Mary Quigley 18 Margaret Quigley 17 Catharine Quigley 15 William Quigley 7 MO This looks like the same family as above. 1880 Saint Louis, Saint Louis, Missouri (Enum:Nov 1880] Patrick Quigley 52 Ireland Ellen Quigley 51 Charles Quigley 24 Marry Quigley 19 Maggie Quigley 17 Katie Quigley 16 Willie Quigley 7 MO The decade before, there was another William Quigley in the county adjacent to Iron Co. His father was born in Ireland, but he was born in MO [1861]. 1870 Iron Township, St Francois Co., MO Thomas Quigley abt 1830 Ireland Ellen Quigley abt 1838 Ireland Bridget Quigley abt 1858 Missouri William Quigley abt 1861 Missouri Catherine Quigley abt 1864 Missouri John Quigley abt 1866 Missouri Mary Quigley abt 1870 Missouri Interestingly, there was another Quigley family here at the same time [1870]. Perhaps Thomas and John (both heads of household) were siblings... 1870 Iron Township, St Francois Co., MO John Quigley abt 1832 Ireland White Male Ellen Quigley abt 1833 Ireland White Female A Patrick Quigley, born in Ireland at about the same time, lived here also. The birth year and place is the same as the Patrick listed in St. Louis is 1880, but he cannot be the same man. Patrick Quigley in St. Louis was married prior to 1870. His children's ages also contradict the possibility that it is the same man. These have to be two different Patricks: 1870 Iron Township, St Francois Co., MO Davis Household [border] Patrick Quigley abt 1830 Ireland White Male There is no listing for William Quigley born in 1848 (1847-1849) Ireland that I could find. I didn't check spelling variations, since I'm not certain of your William's birth year, birth place, etc. There was a William Yeagley abt 1850 Ireland Head, listed with this alternative [William Quigley], spouse: Bridget in 1910 Greensburg, Knox, MO. I don't know if this further confuses the issue, but here is another William found in Hot Springs Ark: 1910 Hot Springs, Garland, ArkansaWilliam Quigley 35 Canada Annie Quigley 35 Robert Quigley 8 Katherine Quigley 6 Charles Quigley 4 With a little more to go on, I will be happy to check again for you. -Kay

(I do not know when it was enumerated.)There is also a William Quigley and a James McCue serving in Hot Springs, Garland, Arkasas in the 1880 census. They are both Privates in Co. E 13th U.S. Infantry. The listing of the the age and birthplace for William is different than the one in Missouri. Since William and James appear in both census together, I think they might me one and the same person. I am trying to get more information about William Quigley. Whenever I try to find out about the Infantry in Arkasas, I cannot find anything. Someone once told me that men in Missouri joined the service in Rollings, Missouiri around the late 1800's. I would appreciate any information someone could give me. Thank you, Eellitta russetred@msn.com

John H. Riddle and Mary London came to Iron County just before the 1860 census. Son Munroe lived nearby with wife Ruth (Reed) Riddle and children. Son James dissappeared. Wife Ruth Reed Riddle and Mary London disappeared (died) mid 60's. I believe Ruth died in 1864 in childbirth, Mary after that. I cannot find any obits or cemeteries where they are buried. John H. Riddle later married Lucinda (last name unknown) after 1870. I have been unable to find that marriage certificate. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Laura Clark clarkfla@eoni.com
