Suicide--On last Saturday a young man named JOHN BOATWRIGHT committed suicide by shooting himself through the heart. For some time past he had been threatening to perpetrate the act which we are chronicling, and on one or two occasions endeavored ineffectually to procure poison from Dr. Haller, who, suspecting his intentions, refused him. On last Saturday morning, young Boatwright took a rifle and went out to an old farm, about 2 miles west of Pilot Knob formerly occupied by the Boatwright family, but now inhabited by an old man engaged in hauling wood for the Pilot Knob Company. Entering the unoccupied house, he placed the breech of the rifle upon the floor, with the muzzle to his left breast, and discharged the gun by touching the trigger with the ramrod. When discovered, in the afternoon, he was lying upon his face, with the ramrod upon one side of him, and the rifle on the other. Such are the facts as presented before the coroner's jury which sat upon his body on Saturda! y evening. The causes which led to the rash act are, dissipation and disappointment in some love affair. I do not think the Iron Co., Mo. or any county genealogical site is an appropriate to solicit business regarding "doing look ups for a fee." Also, I do not think it is appropriate for a person to ask about fees for lookups. The lists I thought were supposed to be for individuals to ask questions, post information or offer advice FOR FREE. If I am wrong, please correct my notions. I do not see any problems with going "off site" to conduct such business. Their names are Thomas Thaddeus, John T., and Lucy were all born before 1860, probably in Kentucky; and James R. and Joseph Lewis/Louis born in Missouri before 1870. According to the 1860 federal census the family was living in Butler County, Missouri. By 1880, the brothers were living in Iron County, MO (1880 census). In 1881,John T. married Estella Moser in Iron County. Estella is part of the Moser family that I am researching. Estella and my grandfather were first cousins. Estella's father, George, was one of three Moser brothers who lived in or near Iron County between 186? and 1900: George A., James W., and Jacob Lewis. In the 1900 census, John T. and Stella were still living in Iron County; in 1910, they were in Creek County, OK; in 1920, in Hinds County, Mississippi; and in 1930, in Madison County, Mississippi,with their son T. Richard. I would like to make contact with descendents of both the Baldwin and Moser families. I am trying to learn more about my Moser ancestors who were living in Iron County, especially the descendants of George A. and James W. Their brother, Jacob Lewis Moser, died about 1873, and left his wife and 1 child. I have made contact with that line. George A. and his wife had several children who grew up in Iron County. John T. and Stella had 9 children born there. Sometime after 1900 George A. and his family moved to Kansas. James W. lived in Texas sometime in the 1880's and 1890's. In 1868, he had married Visa Grayum in Iron County. James died in 1893 or 4, and in 1900 his wife and 2 sons were living in Iron County. The older son, Odie Moser had married Effie Rencehausen in Iron County around 1898. There was also a P.A. Moser who married Flora Tong in the early 1900's. Research by one of his descendants ties P.
