Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/zMB.2ACI/903.1 Message Board Post: Robert Thomas Bay married Alice Hutchings, 4/1/1900 in Dent County, MO. I have no dates of birth/death but I believe he died while a resident of St.Louis, MO. His father was Rev. Wade Greenberry Bay, died 11/22/1906 & buried at Asher Cemetery near Boss, MO. I believe my Grandfather Jake Clements bought their old home place in the early 1900's which was in Western Iron Co, known at that time as "Red Point" which was near Buick, Mo.

    3. So, Millie King would show on the 1900 census? It's not indexed, so I went (without knowing the date of the photo or the age of the girls) to the 1880 census ... no Millie, but two Bessie Kings, one a year old, Black and one two yrs old, white. I don't know if either is a match.. can you send a bit more info? 3. Have you looked for Robert or Alice (do you know her maiden name?) on the 1880 census? It's free at http://www.familysearch.org (Latter Day Saints website). Click on Search at the top of the screen, then on census on the left menu bar... no pictures, but you can browse next or previous family & find if any relatives are close by. 3. I believe this will be aside from the Rootsweb surname lists already available online. Never hurts to have your information out there. I tried for over 30 years to find my grandpas family in Sweden... and because I had his picture & information on a webpage... a cousin in Sweden found his grandpas Amerika family his first try at a websearch.... Lars was thrilled that his first try at a websearch was a success... may have only taken Lars one try.. but we would have never made that contact had I not had my info out there. 3. For image quality and usability, Ancestry.com is superior. However, Ancestry.com has some of the census indexes whereas Genealogy.com has (it appears) the years that Ancestry.com DOESN'T have, so in a way, you need to subscribe to both to be "covered". What I do is subscribe to ancestry.com and then when I want to find someone in the years (i.e. 1900 1910) that genealogy.com has indexes on, I do a one month sign-on for them, and then find who I need to do, and then go to that page with ancestry.com... Hope that makes sense... dlc -----Original Message----- From: saywho [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, July 13, 2003 9:02 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [MOIRON] Census I have a two day trial to the genealogy.com census. 3. Personally I prefer Ancestry.com It is easier to use. I subscribe to Ancestry.comm I tried genealogy. com with my new family tree. I found it hard to use but if it is free try both. What I got would not let me look at the census. You can only be the judge. Lloyd C. Ancestry.com usually give you two weeks. saywho wrote: >I have a two day trial to the genealogy.com census. 3. For the most part ancestry.com and genealogy .com, index different decades. Neither indexes the 1880 census but one can do a good search of that decade at the LDS familysearch. It would be necessary to go to ancestry.com or genealogy.com to view the actual pages. In my opinion, the genealogy.com pages load much faster but I have trouble printing them. If I wanted to print, I would go to ancestry.com. Searches at ancestry.com are much easier to fine tune for indexed decades. Fine tuning is a problem I perceive with genealogy.com searches as a whole. Links to the actual census page for the 1850 decade at ancestry.com are off or not there, so sometimes I page at genealogy.com -much faster. Although slightly slower, I prefer the ancestry.com functionality for the 1930 census; it is a different format than the other decades at ancestry.com. Some functions of the Ancestry.com decades before 1930 do not work with XP. ----- Original Message ----- From: "saywho" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, July 13, 2003 9:02 AM Subject: [MOIRON] Census > I have a two day trial to the genealogy.com census.
