Surnames: GOVREAU Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/zMB.2ACI/911 Message Board Post: I just returned from a trip to Missouri and I stopped by the old Ursuline Academy in Arcadia to take a picture of the grave of one of my family members who is buried there. Her name was Mother Modesta Govreau and she professed to her religion in 1894. After spending 65 years in the service of others, she passed away in 1959 . I never knew her but since researching my Govreau family I have found an interest in her life as well as an interest in the lives of the Govreau family. I visited the Academy on a Sunday and there was no one around except some people working on the restoration of the church. I walked in the door of the church and looked around the entire area. Although in need of repair and some TLC, one could just imagine the majesty of the place in its glory days. The entire campus will need alot of work but it will be well worth it. I read other stories on this Iron County Board regarding the old Academy and I just wanted to say thank you to all of those who c! ontributed their stories and rememberances of the place. I almost felt like I was there too

But you can only order the record for one person at a time. It will be ignored if it is for multiple records. You can place the order online, then they will E-mail you within 48 hours I think, telling you how much you owe. I must first apologize if this response doesn't work right. I love to hit the enter key before i'm finished with a message. I am a descendant of Thomas Jefferson Reeves. I thought I had done a lot of work on the Reeves but you have more than I have seen. Thank you for all the additional info. There is one story in the family bible that I cannot verify. The story goes that Thomas had an Indian wife. They had twe children, a boy and a girl. The story goes that she returned to her tribe. The boy was captured by rebels and the girl married. No dates, no names, no tribe. Have you found anything in your research about this. I do know that Thomas's father-in-law spent many years trapping beaver in the Custer country. He had a couple of Indian wives and some children but I don't know how many. It has been two years since your Query was but on the Internet so I think I'll cut this one short and see if it reaches you.

I would love to make off-line contact with you. I have been gradually making contacts with other cousins from this extended family, and have a photocopy of a letter wrtiien by Lewis to Osiah only a few days before Lewis's death. This was sent to me by a cousin decended from one of Osiah's daughters. I have been able to trace the movements of all of Osiah's siblings over the years of their adult lives. I have also been able to start to put together information on the names of their children. I'm aware thate Lewis and Belle had a daughter, Mary, and a son who died when he was a baby. I know that a some point Belle moved to someplace Nebraska. In 1880,Osiah moved his family to Jewell County, Kansas, which borders Nebraska. My grandfather was living in Beatrice, Nebraska, in the mid 1890's just before he came east to Conne! cticut where he spent the rest of his life. Marilyn CT
