I had seen your post regarding Silas previously. I have also looked into the 1850 & 1860 John Pannebeckers in the aforementioned PA indexes and censuses, but to no avail. None are the right John Pannebecker. He can run, but he can't hide! I'm determined to find him! Thanks again.

But his parents came from Ohio. The marriage you have listed is the correct marriage. I believe part of the hardness of finding him is that he joined the Union Army in CA and was suppose to be helping to protect the poney express routes. He was with Company E, 1st Cavalry Regiment California. Later coming back to Missouri and marrying Lucy. Someone provided me information that he was listed in the 1876 Missouri Census with Lucy and a daughter Cora. A family tape I have mentions that George P Foster II (his son) had a long lost sister. ( I wouldn't have thought to look in CA without the tape and some of the stories on it ). He was a Freemason there, I confirmed it with the Missouri Grand Lodge: "George P. Foster’s Masonic membership was with Mosaic Lodge #351 in Belleview, Missouri. George Foster was initiated into Mosaic Lodge on May 16, 1874." I'll look at the 1880 census, but the ages seem too young. Add that to the fact he was in Missouri in 1874, and the 1876 census I would guess since he died in Missouri, he probably lived in Missouri in 1880. Sometimes I wonder if he was avoiding the census taker.

The page indicates he was mustered in from Louisville, KY. This doesn't sound like the same James Albert Brewer of MO. Could be two different people. In checking the Pension Index, it looks like James' mother, Susan Brewer, applied for his pension and received it. It lists him for E 47 MO Inf. Folks, I know there is another site for roll calls, and Andie is aware (forwarded the note to both Roll Call & Iron). We are not that busy a list, so I try to let you all police yourselves. If you are going to post a roll call type note, please be sure to include a bit of usefull information (dates, aproximate dates & places, etc.)... this way the post will be of more use. Also... don't use ROLL CALL as your subject line... use the names you are researching.. some folks don't look at the full note, they decide what to look at by the subject line. Thanks Margie Campbell list host > ______________________________

I understand that this unit was formed in 1863 for the defense of Ironton, MO. I have unsubstantiated information to the effect that he died 23 Dec 1864 in Paducah, Kentucky. Looking at the available online histories of battles in Kentucky, I see that the battles in that state were fought in south central and eastern Kentucky, while Paducah is in extreme western Kentucky. What was James doing in Paducah? Was there a military hospital in the rear area? Also, I have not found his name on any available roster. This message is also posted on the MO-CW forum.
