I just read the book Enemy Women by Paulette Jiles. If you ancestors were in the S. E. counties of Mo. during the Civil War you might enjoy it. This is a novel but each chapter is begun with excerpts from actual letters and news paper accounts written during the war. I found it a very interesting and an eye opening look at what life might have been like during those years. P.S. I have been off the list for a while so please excuse if this is an old topic. Donna
Thanks for posting this Craig. This file is harmless & is loaded when windows is installed. I did fall for this hoax years ago & deleted the file. I didn't need for over a year & then just loaded from the original windows disk. If you already deleted the file, don't worry.. nothing is going to happen to windows or your computer... You may need to reload the file if you ever load a program that needs it. I load a lot of stuff on my system (software junkie) and it took a year for me to need it. Rootsweb has some of the best virus protection measures out there. If you are a memeber of any of the lists, the chance of getting a virus from the list are next to impossible. I would say impossible.. but I NEVER say Never! If you get a virus... rootsweb won't allow your note to reach the list. Marge
I don't mind virus information on this list, because we are small and sometimes, especially with less experienced onliners.. the Hoax warnings can cause computer problems. If anyone has deleted the "teddy bear" icon file... you can reload it from the windows disk. It is used in some programs, but won't kill your system. You may not even notice it's gone right away. Thanks to all who volunteered the hoax site info. Marge Campbell your host (believe it or not)
To everyone in my address book. I just found out I had a virus that is automaticallypassed through e-mail address books. I found it in my C drive. Since you a re in my address book, you will probably find it in your computer too. The virus is called jdbgm.exe and is not detected by Norton or MacAfee antivirus systems. The virus sits quietly for 14 days before damaging the system. It is sent automatically by "messenger" and by address book whether or not you sent an e-mail to your contacts. Here is how to check for the vius and get rid of it. 1. Go to Start, then click your "find" or "search" options. 2. In the folder option type the name jdbgm. 3. Be sure to search your C drive (this is where I found it) all subfolders and other drives you may have. 4. Click "find now" 5. The virus has a teddy bear icon with the name jdbgmgr.exe Don't open it! 6. Go to Edit (on the main menu) bar and choose "select all" to highlight the file without opening it. 7. Now to the file (on the menu bar) select delete. The virus will then go to the recycle bin. If you find the virus you must contact all the people in your address book. To do this: 1. open a new e-mail message 2. click the icon address book 3. High light every name and add to "Bcc" 4. Copy this mesage and paste all to e-mail. This virus was accidently passed on to me and I may have passed it on to you. Please check your computer as soon as possible. Sorry for the inconvenience David
David, You'd been taken in by a hoax (see below). This file should not be deleted for it is a legitimate Windows program!!! Bettye ====================================== Jdbgmgr.exe file hoax Reported on: April 12, 2002 Last Updated on: December 03, 2003 10:25:09 AM Symantec Security Response encourages you to ignore any messages regarding this hoax. It is harmless and is intended only to cause unwarranted concern. Type: Hoax This hoax, like the SULFNBK.EXE Warning hoax, tries to encourage you to delete a legitimate Windows file from your computer. Jdbgmgr.exe is the file to which the hoax refers, and it is the Microsoft Debugger Registrar for Java. The Jdbgmgr.exe file may be installed when you install Windows. Notes: Some versions of this hoax take advantage of an actual threat, the [email protected] worm. The Jdbgmgr.exe file mentioned in the hoax has a bear icon. The actual [email protected] worm file is a .exe file and does not have a bear icon. Other versions of this hoax have slightly different ways in which they refer to the Jdbgmgr.exe file, usually in the subject of the email message. Dear Margie and Jeanette I got lucky on these Bibles. Sometime ago I posted a query on the Stoddard Co. Web site regarding my Rasche Family. My GG grandfather was Henry Rasche. His sister was Magdalena Rasche who married Herman Weise in 1865 in Stoddard Co. Well, last November I received an e-mail from an angel named Gary Capps. He told me about two Bibles and a photo album he saw in a shop in Bloomfield, Mo. He gave me the shop keepers name and address and phone number, and I was able to purchase them from him. They were quite costly, but I splurged! They really have more Spitzmiller info than Rasche. The photos are very nice but none are labeled. I do not know any of them---there are a lot of children's pictures. Margaret Bauer of Florida [email protected] My Family Tree is missing a few branches ----- Original Message -----

I just finished redoing THE CAMPBELL'S ARE HERE by Mary Ellen Campbell Tesreau (private publ. 1970)55 pages. My version was a copy of a copy, so photos were real bad. I borrowed Aunt Rachel Campbell Franklin's original copy and scanned as many photos from it as I could, retyped all pages (only corrections were some spelling & grammar out of habit). The data in the book is not exacting, but is a good starting point & the photos are nice for those of us who are related to Ellis & Elizabeth Young Campbell. Ellis b 1804 in VA (per census, family) Elizabeth Young b abt 1814 in TN/AL depending on the record. They had first three children in Jackson co AL (Matthew b 1833, James Mehlander b 1835 & Ambrose/Andrew b 1836) The rest of the children were born in Missouri. There is a little on the Jasper Newton Mayberry family, Micha/Michael Spitzmiller family & some on the Suttons, but not much. If you are related to this line, and are interested, contact me.
