Lewis were cousins of our great-grandmother. What I have is that Lucinda J. Wallis (1850-1907) marries James Lewis (1845-1918). They had nine children. One of those children, Eli (1885-1976) married Rella May Robinson (1888-1982). James and Lucinda had three daughters, but none were named Lillie. It's very likely that your Lillie is descended from a brother of James Lewis, but I don't have any information on him.

    3. A correction is needed in the body of the original e-mail where I state "My inderstanding is that Ollie Swinford married Archie A. or Arch Hughes." I didn't proof enough and that should read "Archie A. or Arch CLEMONS." James Turner Harris [email protected] ----- Original Message ----- From: James Harris To: [email protected] Sent: Monday, July 12, 2004 7:45 PM Subject: Archie A. "Arch" Clemons & Ollie Swinford Dooley Murray Clemons I was told that a person I am looking for is buried in the Graniteville Cemetery. His name is Archie A. or Arch Clemons and he was born circa 1885. No idea of when he passed. He married a person I have been trying to track down for a couple of years now. Originally she was Ollie Swinford (b. abt 10/1881-1883 in Doe Run, Mo. She 1st married Robert Lesley Dooley on 11/1/1899 in Doe Run, Mo. Then she married Newton Guy Hughes on 6/8/1906 possibly also in Doe Run, Mo. She moved with Newton Guy Hughes to Quapah, Ok. Ottawa Co. by 1920 so he could work in the zinc mines. He had worked in the lead mines in St. Francois Co., Mo. Her 2nd husband died in 1926 and by 1930 Ollie Swinford Dooley Hughes had married James Murray and was living in Bismarck, Mo. My understanding is that Ollie Swinford married Archie A. or Arch Hughes. In the 1930 census Archie was widowed and living with his step-father and mother in St. Francois Co., Mo. Samuel B. and Martha A. Hand. From information provided to me I surmise that Archie married Ollie possibly between 1931 and 1935 or so. It could have been in St. Francois Co. but it may have been in Graniteville, Mo. as they supposedly lived there about 8 to 10 years. Ollie was known to be in Webb City, Mo. Jasper Co. (near Joplin) in 1946. I would appreciate a look up in the Graniteville Cemetery for Archie A. Clemons and possibly a marriage in Iron Co. or Graniteville of Archie and Ollie. 3. Hello, All: Can someone tell me the name of the office I should contact to find out who owns a particular piece of land in Iron County? Are these records available to the public? I'm trying to find out who now owns the property where I grew up, in Annapolis, Missouri. I'm also wondering who is now in possession of old Robinson's Mill property (owned in the 1960s - 80s by Homer and Shirley Robinson). I believe the mill burned down a while back. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Marietta Briguglio

    3. I would just like to remind everyone of the wonderful Pilot Knob re-enactment which occurs ever three years is this year the weekend of September 25th. If you are planning a genealogy visit to Iron County, this would be a good weekend to get to see an exciting event at Fort Davidson. Just do a google for Pilot Knob Reenactment or Fort Davidson Reenactment and you will find oodles of photos on this event.

My records show that their father, David Carson Stevens (sometimes spelled Stephens) had a brother, Henry S. Stevens, who was born in 1818 and married Margaret Lanthim. (This is probably who Rebecca called "Uncle Henry".) But...I have a total of 4 Henry's, so this must have been a family name. I have a Henry C., born ca 1869, married twice (but not to a Goforth) and having a total of 16 children. Our line lived in the Bunker, MO, area. Apparently Stephens was the original spelling because most of the info in VA is spelled this way.

However, I don't feel that Henry C.Stevens was a brother to my David Carson Stevens because of the age difference. Do you know if Henry was married before he married Goforth?.... The book that James Bell wrote says that Henry was a Brother to David Carosn and Rebecca's uncle. It goes on to say that Henry was county collector from 1885 until 1888. In 1890 he was charged with embezzlement and was granted a change of venue to the St. Louis Criminal court. The suit was lost to this researcher and his guilt or innocence was never determined. He seemed to disappear from the area for a long time. In the Centerville "Outlool" July 17, 1915 after he had paid a visit to Centerville was...."H.C.Stevens formerly Collector of Reynolds County had not been in Centerville for years. He lives at Bunker and has a position with the Bunker-Culler Lumber Company." Henry was shown on the 1910 Census of Re! ynolds County living in Bunker. That is all from James Bell's Book. With those calculations he would have been 97 years old when he was working at the lumber company in Bunker. I personally think that we MUST be talking about 2 different Henry Stevens'. I have no idea where Henry fits in with David. I do know that my grandfather, who was a son of Rebecca Stevens Dennison called Henry Stevens "Uncle Henry"....However, children in those days called elderly people Uncle and Aunt...even when they weren't really their uncle and aunt. I think that this Henry was more likely a nephew of David's but have nothing to support that. Perhaps you may want to check with the records of the criminal court in St. Louis for information on that suit. James Bell couldn't find anything but then at that time (copyright 1992) he didn't have the computer resources that we have today. I have Henry married to Margaret Lathim, and both being born in VA. Is this the same Henry as the one that married Goforth? Good luck with your research.
