Surnames: JOHNSON,TUCKER, ROBINSON, JACKSON Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/zMB.2ACI/305.310.312.2.1 Message Board Post: Hi Kevin, Since I last talked to you I broke my shoulder and could not use the computer very well for nearly a year & had to type without shifting. I'm nearly back to normal now! As for my Robinson genealogy I was blessed with the gift of over 300 photographs of Tucker, Robinson, Jackson, Johnson and related lineages (old or antique) plus near 100 postcards that were exchanged by mail and so forth. I have now spent many hours piecing some of the lines together wiht the pictures. I also now have pictures of Martha Robinson - Tucker and family. Many of these pictures are from Iron and Reynolds counties in Missouri. I plan to post many of these pictures on a web site this fall for all to share and print. During this time I found some cousins (they had all moved away from Iron Co.) that I grew up knowing and spending time with in Des Arc that knew some facts about the Robinson genealogy but even with that I still have not been able to 100% confirm the connections. One such fact is my cousins said we had a Uncle Jim Robinson but they were too young to know him but their father(my uncle Glenn Johnson) spoke of him quite often. I asked how he was our uncle and they had no answer. I told them for Jim Robinson to be our uncle, that we never knew due to our age, he could only have been Martha's brother and that would make him our g-g- uncle if in fact he was Martha's brother. I can say this because all other uncles after Jim Robinson are accounted for. Also the church records from 1923 (and earlier) provided to me by Delores Wright were very helpful in confirming that James Robinson and wife Mandy (short for Amanda) did live were I was told and attended the same church as many of our relatives did. I now need to find the father of this James Robinson. I also know what my own mother said many years ago! She said we were related to the Lewis family and the Lewis family married into the Robinson family as did the Seals family. ( I am sure some of you Des Arcians remember "Seals and Saddles" grocery store in Des Arc owned by Buford Lewis and Bud Seals). They were really good folks, too! I spent many a dollar in their store! Ha!) Anyway I have some genealogy on that lineage that was worked up by someone else. I can email it to you if you don't already have it. I have scoured the public records for more leads and really do not have much new to confirm. I think that some of the facts were in Reynolds County Mo. and that is too bad because their courthouse burned at least 3 times and I guess records were lost each time. Right now I an nearly finished with writing a JOHNSON FAMILY HISTORY BOOK and JOHNSON WEB SITE. The web site will be released to the public right after I distribute the books. I am shooting for the date of Aug 15th 2004 if all goes smoothly. My Johnson family connects to the Tucker/ Robinson lineagwe by way of our grandmother ETTA MAY TUCKER- JOHNSON w/o WILLIAM HENRY JOHNSON. What's new with you? Gloria Peace-Griffitts

Note from Sally re Finding information from closed websites .. from a friend on another mailing list So many times we do a search for a site that is no longer on line. I like to use the www.Google.com search engine and then the cached link to bring up the pages. Most of the time it works for me. Go to the Wayback Machine http://www.archive.org/ and under Archives Collection enter the site you are looking for. Sometimes you will be able to navigate the entire site. Since this will be for your great great grandfather.. the National Archives are your best bet. Missouri may have them, but if not, the Archives will be the place to check. Originals were sent there. You must be the child, parent, spouce or sibling of the veteran. For genealogical purposes there is still a charge. I ordered my dad's and had my mom sign for her father's. If you are doing this for a grandfather, etc.... you will need to go to the National Archives to order the records. http://www.archives.gov/ National Archives http://www.archives.gov/research_room/genealogy/ National Archives genealogical page. As I stated before, if you are a direct relative (parent, spouce, child) of a deceased veteran, you can order a free copy of the military record from: http://www.va.gov Veteran's Affairs page The above Veteran's page is under upgrade this weekend, but will be available soon. Some of the areas are available, but not all. Go to the following webpage: http://www.va.gov/ Dept. of Veteran's affairs They are upgrading their site this weekend, but there is a form on this site that will let you order the records. It will also give you instructions on how to verify your signature, or send a mail-in or fax-in request. I just ordered my dad's and my grandfather's records. Both John W. and Katherine are buried in Des Arc Cemetery, Des Arc, Iron CO. MO. Was Ben Chilton living in Iron County? Who were his parents? When and where did he marry Myrtle Levada Robinson ? That's very interesting about Rella May Robinson -- we didn't have that, but Absalom Robinson is Giles' great-grandfather. His grandmother was Myrtle Levada Robinson (daughter of Absalom and Josephine Parks), who married Ben Chilton. It means we're doubly related to Lewis. I don't have any of the other children of Absalam Robinson and Josephine Parks -- just Myrtle Levada (1885-1967) m. Benjamin Franklin Chilton (1882-1970), seven children.
