I believe his articles were published in the Iron County Register in the late 1800's. The library in Ironton has the papers on microfilm. Looking for some articles about Civil War that this man wrote for the Iron Mountain Echo. He used the pen names Isaac and Citizen. Don't have a date but would think early 1900's maybe or earlier. His surname was Fitz, from Des Arc and think they made buggies etc. Any help would be appreciated. Pat

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/zMB.2ACI/1273.2 Message Board Post: I can add a little bit of info and a little bit of speculation. Henry Sampson Goad (May 22 1840 Smith Co TN- Feb 27 1916 Wayne Co MO) and his 2nd or 3rd wife Rachel Elizabeth Smith (24 Oct 1855 b TN - March 11 1947) are buried in the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Madison Co MO. Henry S. Goad age 44 and wife Rachel E. age 24 show in 1880 census for Wayne Mo with children, Mary E. age 12, Peter M. age 9, Barbara A. age 7, John W. age 4, James L. age 1, and Arthulia?J. daughter age 4 mos. The mother of Mary and Peter was born in MO; mother of last 4 b in TN. I believe the mother of the 1st 2 children may have been Catherine Hinkle. Don't have any real proof of this, but I believe the Bertha Debord b Dec 1887 in the 1900 census with Henry S. Goad is Bertha Aslee Deboard (Dec 16 1886 MO - 10 Feb 1948 St Louis). Bertha married Frank Daniel Hinkle in 1901 in Wayne Mo and both are also buried in Beulah Baptist Cemetery. I Believe Bertha may have been counted a 2nd time in the 1900 census for Iron Co MO in Union Twp as Bird DeBoard b Dec 1886 listed as a servant with Allen and Lilla Brown. Bertha Deboard may have been a daughter of Houston David Deboard ( 1855-1933) and Mary E. Toppins (1864- 1944) who are also buried in Beulah Baptist Cem. I believe a sister of Bertha Deboard is the Almeda Deboard b Feb 1892 listed as gd with George W. Toppins in the Union twp of Iron Co MO. Doshia Almedia DeBoard (1891-1966) marr Lee Davis and buried in Parkview Cem. I have not found any census record for Houston David (or David Houston) Deboard, which is quite surprising. I believe Houston Deboard married a 2nd time t! o Mary B. C. "Sissie" Hinkle abt 1900 or 1901 and had at least 2 children, Maggie Bell DeBoard ( 17 Jun 1902 - 2 July 1942) who married Troy Firebaugh and both buried in Beulah Baptist; and 2nd daughter Lola Mae DeBoard (1905-2002) marr Christopher Columbus Sullivan and both buried in Mountain View Cem in Iron Co. Mary B. C. Hinkle 1st marriage to Alexander Benett with son Robert Monroe b 1895 and daughter Laverta b 1898. Mary B. C. d/o Robert Hinkle (1845-1931) and Elener "Nellie" Humphrey. I believe the James DeBoard (1880-1909) buried in Beulah Baptist may also be a son of Houston and Mary E. Toppins. I may have something wrong here because I show both of Houston Deboard's wifes dying in 1944 and both buried in Beulah Baptist. Would love further info on these families, especially the Deboards.

You might try cousins of mine and Campbell and Sutton family researchers. Marge Campbell at margecam52@msn.com and Jeanette Henson McClure at jfmcclure_1@bellsouth.net. There is actually an _ between the e and the 1 in Jeanette's email address, but you cannot see it with the underline. Jeanette also does SUTTON research. I am sorry to say that I have none of these names in my family tree, but bet that they are related because they are in Iron County. Please take a look at my family tree website, "The Webs We Weave" which I have posted on Tribal Pages. The website address is as follows: http://www.tribalpages.com/tribes/jdwafford The Password that you will need to view the website is my maiden name of: Nash Please sign my Guestbook when you visit and check back often, as I do update at least monthly.
