I wholeheartedly agree. I don't think they are. Sally is a nickname for Sarah, not Susan. Ephriam Turner married Sally/Sarah Rupe. Willoughby Williams married Susan Rupe Turner. James Turner married Elizabeth Rupe. I believe the parental consent is a clear indication that her maiden name was Turner, not Rupe. I believe Rupe was her middle name, from her mother's maiden name. Census records show her as Susan R. Turner. Not likely she would be using her maiden name as part of her married name. That's why I think she was BORN a Turner. And is it likely that she would have named her son, James TURNER Williams if Turner was her first married name? I've seen it done, but not often. And I have to wonder of James Turner's middle name might be Thomas, and if he is the Thomas who signed Susan's parental consent.
