The AVERY's are very distant relatives on my family tree. About 2 years ago, I was contacted by Anthony (Tony) Avery and he sent me the following e-mail. Perhaps this will help you..........His e-mail address is at the beginning of his message: Avery info and notes provided by: Anthony M. Avery of Kansas City, MO. E-mail address: TAvery@plattesheriff.org "On the 1830, 1840, 1850 census, James the First is listed as AVERETT and on the 1860 as AVERY. On the 1870 he is living w/Amanda's family (NAYLOR) and is again listed as AVERETT. Looks like this is where the name change comes in prior to 1860. My direct line is Zachary Taylor Avery. He married Catherine or Katherine Sarah Smith about 1877 or 1878. I have Z.T. on the 1850 census as Z.T., the 1860 listed as Tailor, the 1870, as Z.T. the 1900 as Z.T., the 1910 as Zacig T. and the 1920 again as Z.T. The 1920 being out of Randolph County. They ultimately had twelve children but only nine lived. I have seven of the nine. My line takes off with Samuel Paul Avery. He married Mary Jane Clark in Nov, 1907 in Howard Co. She was from Randolph Co. They had a child btwn 1908 and May 1910 when my grandfather, Eugene Orbin Avery was born as one of a set of twins. His birth certificate says that he is the third child born to this mother and only two were still living. That means either the other twin died o rthe previously born child died. I can't find any documentation on these children. However, they had another child in or about 1915 with the birth of Samuel Paul Avery (he went by Paul). apparently, their mother Mary died on the farm from a fall and Samuel is said to have married at least once more, to a woman named Evelyn ? and had at least two children. Carl Avery b. 1925 and Thelma Avery b. 1927. As for my Grand Uncle Paul, I have him and my Grandpa on the 1930 census together in Kansas City. He eventually moved to California and died in april 1968 and my grandfather died November 1968! , in K.C. MO. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? New Yahoo!
