    1. [MOHOWARD-L] Lowthian Family

    3. I have been researching the Edmonds / Jordan / Clark family whose roots are in Howard County from 1830 to 1880 and beyond. While looking at film of the New Franklin News I ran across the obituary of my Great Grandfather's (Richard Harrison Edmonds) brother in law. His sister was Sarah Amanda Edmonds. She married John A. Lowthian and they migrated to Arizona in the mid 1870's, where he died in 1900. The obit goes as follows. "John A. Lowthian died at his home in Strawberry, Az, February 17, 1900 of a complication of diseases, aged 58 years. The deceased was born in Carroll Co, MO 1842. After reaching man's estate he came to Howard Co where he resided a number of years. He was united in matrimony to Miss Sallie Edmonds. He left a number of years ago for Arizona where he remained until God releived him of his suffering. He leaves a wife, three sons, one daughter, two sisters and a brother to mourn his departure. He was a Confederate soldier and the following is a verse of his war song: Our bugles sang true, for the night cloud had lowered. And the sentinel stars set thier watch in the sky. And the thousands had sunk on the ground overpowered, The weary to sleep, and the wounded to die." His three sons were James Issac, Strother, Richard and a daughter Daisy?. There was a neat web site for the Strawberry historical society that has a picture of their farm in Arizona. If anyone has any additional information on the family I would appreciate hearing from them. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
