1 May 1896--CARROLLTON, MO--April 30--William Taylor was hanged here today for the murder of the Meeks family.  The drop fell at 10:56 a.m. Death was instantaneous. There is (or at least used to be) quite a detailed story of the murder of the Meeks family on the Sullivan Co Genweb page. My server is acting up so I can't get there to verify that it is still there.
