W. Grapes and daugghter, Miss Scottie. Even though it rained Saturday night, all ten of Mr. Grapes' children were prresent, as were many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, neighbors and friends. All brought well ffilled baskets, and at noon a table fit for a king was spread on the lawn. For a time depression aand drought were forgotten. The evening was spent in taking pictures and conversation. All departed at a late hour, wishing that all could have been with us. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Charles Price "Charly" GRAPES. Born 21 Jul 1894 in Burton, Howard Co., Missouri. Died Mar 1968 in Higbee, Randolph Co., MO. 1919 The Higbee News Friday, 6 June 1919, Vol 33. No 7--Sunday was a big day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Grapes of southwest of town, the occasion being a big dinner in honor of their son, Charles, who recently returned from France, where as a member of Co. A. 128 Infantry, 32nd Division, he saw some of the hardest fighting of the war. The occasion was made a family reunion, all of the children being present except Mrs. Edgar Pitney. Neighbors, relatives and friends were present to the number of 189, and all enjoyed the big dinner, which consisted of everything an epicure could want and was enough in quantity to have fed twice the number. The day was such a happy one that all were reluctant to depart.
