Marie - In my book of the 1876 Holt County, Missouri Special Census I cound find "no" GOODALE surname at all, but I did find something close to what you mentioned only listed under the spelling BEAM (not Bean, could have been the transcribers misspelling?) 1876 Holt County Missouri Special Census Page 70 61st Township 39th Range BEAM, Boxter (male; age 45 yrs & over); Wife (Female; 21 -45 yrs old; Reads & Writes); Thomas (Male; 6-18 yrs old); Susan (Female; 21-45 yrs old); Sarah (Female; 18-21 yrs old); Emma (Female; 18-21 yrs old) (I'm sorry the book did not mention "Boxter" wife by her first name. Thank you very much Beverly. I think this is probably correct also as the children have the same names and ages. Emma isn't listed in 1870 however. Funny the wifes name isn't given..guess she was gone for the day and maybe her husband always called her "wife" and the children "ma" so no one knew her name.. :) Wonder why Susan wasn't with her husband..wonder if I'll ever get this figured out!!
