Speaking of "adoptions," I have a copy of this from GONE HOME (top of page 31), from Blackburn, con't: Item of History: A John Conn, aged 14 y, from the N.Y. Home of the Friendless, was adopted by E.M. Blackburn. (HCMP Nov. 27, 1981) E.M. Blackburn is Elihu Merrit Blackburn. He may have been in Holt in 1889, but definately by 1891. He had children born (and died) there in 1891, 1893, 1895. The next kid was born in 1899 in Kansas, so he was no longer in Holt Co. John Conn does not appear on the 1900 census with the Blackburn family. Nor does he appear in the family photo taken c. 1905 (taken in Los Angeles). Anyone know who John Conn was?
