Pat, I see that you are back in Holt Co., MO, still working on the DeVorsses! I found your data on some of the family in Ancestry.com, specifically that on Robert L. and Gertrude May DeVorss Giffin, and need to tell you that the data you have on Robert Giffin is incorrect--he was born much earlier, (I will check on the exact date), either 1901 or 1902. Gertrude was born 19 Dec 1902. It looks like you've moved? When did that occur? I am still in Bellevue; Harley passed away in Dec 2003, so I am alone again. I am moving to a smaller home in Bellevue, probably in late April. I still do a lot of genealogy, but haven't worked on the DeVorss line for a while. I will probably never know who Robert DeVorss's parents were, or whether he really was a DeVorss, or someone else whom Daniel and Harriett, his supposed grandparents, took in. I've thought about trying to get direct line male descendants to do DNA, but there could be so many variables, and I don't want to upset any apple carts. I'd love to hear from you. I thought I had lost you! Your email address has changed too. So nice to hear from you. I haven't worked on the DeVorss family for a long time either, but ran across the information on Minerva G. Shirley DeVorss Scott by accident. She was the daughter of Richard Shirley and Jerusha Buskirk (according to the Shirley Association), although the Gone Home book in Holt Co. says Vanbuskirk. I have lots in my DeVorss file that is not on Ancestry.com because I haven't updated it in several years. I looked at Robert Giffin in my file and don't have any dates at all on him. I have Gerrude's right. Are you sure you were looking at my stuff? So sorry to hear about Harley. I am alone again too, but only because my husband decided he'd rather retire with his secretary. What a shock. Anyway, I decided to move closer to my children and actually moved in with one of my sons in November 2004. Rob is single and works out of town a lot, so he was happy to have someone take care of his house. I used to live just a few miles from here so it was comfortable territory for me. The rest of my children are within about an hour's drive in Delaware.
