    3. Hi Terry, Thanks for writing. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Tlkanago@cs.com> To: <MOHENRY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, November 10, 2001 2:40 PM Subject: Re: [MOHenry] [admin] RootsWeb / Ancestry Explanation > >I appreciate your position regarding the support of Ancestry and I would > hate to >see RootsWeb discontiued, but I have to express my frustration > everytime I want >to see information from a 'public' record I am asked to pay > for it. There are *no* guarantees, whether you are searching Ancestry online or otherwise searching for and collecting information at Cemeteries, Court Houses, Libraries, or other Archival Repositories. > I have to agree with Michelle. I'm very frustrated. [snip] The Ancestry Census Images Online are new and they are being improved but there are a few wrinkles that need to be ironed out. If people will just be patient. There is tremendous overhead to provide this service. I contribute to the Ancestry Census Images Online to help make or have this resource readily available online. There have been other endeavors to provide census images online. I am not aware of any that have thus far been successful? I feel that the new Ancestry Census Images Online will someday become something that we are all very proud of and wouldn't think of doing without! We are fortunate that Ancestry has stepped in to keep RootsWeb and it's concept of free genealogy aided by volunteers available to researchers! I would like to continue to help genealogical researchers find their ancestors and without Ancestry/RootsWeb where would we be? I don't know about you but I use Ancestry/RootsWeb and the Internet to help others make connections as well as make connections myself. :-)) Thanks again, Mike ************************* Michael G.
