Hey Listers:: Here's a roll call for families from Culpepper Co VA who came to Callaway, Cooper, Morgan and Moniteau counties... the TUTT family is of big interest to me. Looking for information on the following Callaway Co folks... perhaps someone has a history of Callaway Co., and can help me with information on these folks...my ancestors were owned or rented by the following: James A. Tutt [brothers: Henry Tutt and Lewis C. Tutt who lived in Alabama in 1844] Andrew Adair F. H. Watkins H. P. watkins Samuel J. Turner [brother to Susan Turner who married James A. Tutt] Arthur Nelson [Nelsons of Cooper Co...that married into Leonards at Ravenswood?] Dr. H.M. Clarkson [I believe this Clarkson married into the Trigg family?] Henry Turner John Schull P.G. Avery J. F. Smith [husband of M. Ellen Tutt Smith] Newton Vowles John Ogilvie wrote letter to Richard J. Tutt of Culpepper Co., VA [Richard is father to Tutts noted above] *** Some slaves of the Tutt family may have gone to Alabama with Lewis S. Tutt who lived at Perry Ct. H., AL -- according a letter dated Feb. 4, 1839 Lewis C. Tutt PErry Ct., H., AL to Richard J. Tutt, Griffinsburg, VA. If anyone has any information on the persons noted above, including wills or letters etc., which shed light on slaves owned in the family I would be very interested. I have some information collected from Duke University -- on James A. Tutt via the university's rare book, manuscript and special collections library. I have copies of letters etc., that mention slave transactions between the persons noted above. It would be helpful to know who the persons are -- who they married and if anyone has additional information to share. thanks. traci wilson-kleekamp african americans in missouri http://www.missouri-slave-data.org
