My gggrandfather David White (b 2/7/1787, Bertie Co NC) appears in the 1840 Rives Co (now Henry) census. David had been in Morgan Co IL just previous to this and probably died in the late 1840's either in Rives Co or on the way to California, a goal that was abandoned because of several deaths. His family went instead to Texas (Navarro Co.) arriving there on 1/1/1850. The Bryants were kin and traveling companions on the long trek west from NC.
