John W & Elizabeth (nee Talbott) WAYNE marry in Bourbon Co, KY in 1818 and settle in Callaway Co, MO in 1823. In 1856 John and son Ben move to Henry Co, MO. Elizabeth dies in 1860 Bates Co (visiting daughter and son-in-law Susan & Alex?). Their children are: Joshua T m Jane STAW (1848), after returning from the Mexican-American War. He dies in 1856. A Jane Wayne marries George GREEN in 1861. Joshua & Jane's Children are (There is indication that these children are living with their grandfather in 1860): Mary J JENKINS John T m Elizabeth MULLINS (1872). They settle in Benton Co, MO and then moves to Vermilion Co, IL after 1880. Vermilion neighbors Edgar Co, IL where some of Temple's (John W's brother from Audrain Co, MO) family settled. Virginia m E.P. VICKERS (1867) Anne E LEYKINS (sp??) There's a Marinet Likens living w/ the family in 1870. Joshua T Jr. Zerlinda m James PACE (1836). Not sure where they are - Linn/Callaway/Henry/Bates counties? Their children are: Mary Roberta Amanda Sarah Joseph Roberta G m Anderson J BAKER (1839). Settles in Buchanan Co, MO and dies in 1856. May have had land holdings in Callaway and Henry? Their children are: Thomas T. Ann E Zerlinda Susan m Alexander WILLIAMS (1848). They settle in Bates Co, MO, where Alex dies in 1860. Susan dies in Bollinger Co, MO in 1886. Their children are: John William Luther Lecosta Erminie m John H BOWDON (1854). They settle in Bates Co, MO. Their children are: Margara R Georgia Ann HERREL Elizabeth W ALLISON Susie E Ella Charles P Emma J Thomas unknown but I think this might be Joshua T(homas)?? Benjamin m Flavia WALKER (1857) daughter of Dr. William & Elizabeth (nee VAN HOY) Walker from NC. This is my gg grandfather. They live in Henry until about 1910, when they move to Shawnee, OK and then to LA, CA by 1917 where they are buried. This is where stories of being related to the James/Daltons come from. Their children are: Mary E John W (my g grandfather) James T Lassetta E Paralee m James Walker, brother of Flavia Walker (1856), but she is widowed by the 1870s and marries a BLOOM. Amanda m Levi HUNGERFORD (~1871). She is widowed and then marries Peter Johnson. Peter adopts: John Mary Ellen I will update this as new info is available. I haven't completed all my research for Henry. I am interested in anything not listed here, i.e. grave locations, family lines and links. Especially of James T (son of Benjamin) and John T and Joshua T Jr. (sons of Joshua), but any contacts are of course welcomed. I know that some descendant from this list has info about the James/Daltons as well as a bible or two that might have some of the missing bits from the 1750s to 1820s. thanks, chris
Thanks for the suggestion. Now lets hope that folks will follow your format and post their names in a single-column list instead of narrative form, which is harder to follow. Mine will follow. Cheers, Jim
I have pics of Lewis Sebastian @ 1850 or so!! ANY relation to WARTH line is appreciated!!
Please, everyone, put your surnames in the subject line so that we don't have to open and read your entire message to see if it applies. Thanks! :)
Hello Listers, I spent today in Henry County. I lucked out, because the Historical Society, housed in the Henry County Museum, reopened today after a 3-month closing! The volunteer was very friendly and eager to help. They are extremely well-organized and everything there is indexed. The Courthouse was getting ready for tomorrow's schoolboard election and things were a little hectic, but clerks in each office took time to show me where things were and then turned me loose to go through the records. The estate files are all indexed on one floor and then the actual files are microfilmed and on the next floor up, so I got a good workout <G>. I discovered a ne'r-do-well in my new son-in-law's family, and can't wait to tease him about it. My third stop was the very lovely Englewood Cemetery. I've visited cemeteries all over the country and this is one of the prettiest and best laid-out ones I've been in. I wasn't able to find the groundskeeper, so will be making a phone call and going back down there later in the week, but I did walk most of the cemetery even though it was cold and raining. I was told that many people use it's smooth, clean walkways to do their daily "walks" in the park-like setting. Many ancient headstones are still readable and small granite markers saying "unknown" mark the graves where the stones have disappeared. I'm working on CRANMER/CRAMMER and looking for the maiden name and first husband of DORITHA B. JONES, who married William S. CRANMER in November, 1853. Also found today what I believe is the maiden name of William H. Cranmer's wife, Mary Etta HORD or HARD. She is listed as his mother in a death record, but I think it's his wife's name recorded in the wrong place. Either that, or I have the wrong William. Clare
Joseph Keffer and family were listed in the Henry Co 1850 census, two of his daughters married Maupin brothers. Donna __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get email at your own domain with Yahoo! Mail. http://personal.mail.yahoo.com/?.refer=text
