Opps! Where I talked about the Genealogical society directions....I said "....Just on the other side of the Community Center is a street (Central Street). Turn Left on Central Street. You will see the small building for the Genealogical Society (it has a large tree painted on it's side.)...." You don't turn LEFT on Central Street, you have to turn RIGHT! Sorry for the confusion.... HI! I ran to the Library and Genealogical Society today, to find out thier hours. The Library is open: M-F 9am-5:30pm Sat 9am-Noon The Geneaolgical Society is open: Tues AND Thurs 1pm-5pm Sat 2pm-4pm Ok, are you ready for directions to the Bethany, Library? :-) Get off the interstate (like you are going to Walmart.) (Bethany actually has 3 exits , get off at the one you see the McDonalds Arches and head West). You will see BurgerKing and Walmart on the left. On the right you will see the Dairy Queen. (and a stop light). Keep heading West and on the right, you will see a Kum&Go/Wendy's, then a Country Kitchen, then a Yellow sign that says "The Village". Next is a Brown Building with a white sign that says "WALTER...since 1938". Right next to that buiding is a long white building with a brown "brick" front. Infront of that building are several signs together, like this: STATE FARM | Masonic Building | ----------------------------------------- BETHANY LIBRARY. | ----------------------------------------- You can park on the East side of the building. The first door is the State Farm Insurance building, the second one is the Library building. IF you pass the resturant called "TOOT TOOT's" you have gone to far. (you will be able to see the Green sign before you get to the library. (Right after the library is a carwash and laundry mat, then the Toot Toot resturant). Ok, do you know where the Genealogical Society is in Bethany? If not, go past Toot Toot's to the stoplight at the bottom of the hill. (Casey's will be on your Right) Turn Right at the Stop light. On your right you will see a Pizza Hut then Bank Midwest. Keep going, and you will see the Bethany Community Center (Red building with white letters) on the left. Just on the other side of the Community Center is a street (Central Street). Turn Left on Central Street. You will see the small building for the Genealogical Society (it has a large tree painted on it's side.) In the Genealogical Society there are books on Marriage licences in Harrison county. you can look up your ancestors marriage dates, copy that information down from the book, then you can go to the courthouse and get copies. (I was there acouple weeks ago, and found afew copies of marriage licences.) The people are very helpful there. I hope this helps. Have a GREAT day!
