Floyd BALLARD (1843-1918; s/o Medley and Catherine BALLARD) married Dorothy "Dolly" KING (1849-1892) on 3Jan1871. Floyd is on the 1870 Harrison Co census (pg 61A) and George KING lives two doors down, so I'd imagine that George is Dolly's brother (or maybe a cousin). Both Floyd and Dolly are buried at Coffey North. Trying to find who Dolly's parents were.

Hi. I found the following site that lists SOME cemeteries in Missouri. There are just a handful for each county, but you may be able to find the cemetery of your ancestors. http://www.idreamof.com/cemetery/mo/counties_a-l.html (These are the counties in Missouri with the first letters a-l) http://www.idreamof.com/cemetery/mo/counties_m-w.html (These are the counties in Missouri with the first letters m-w) Good luck in your searches. While on a drive through rural Grundy and Harrison Counties, Missouri my wife and I noticed a couple of round stone structures set off in fields. I initally thought they were silo's until someome made a comment that they were old cistern's built by early pioneers. The source also thought that the cistern's were placed along wagon/horse trails or near towns. The ones I saw were in very isolated areas with no apparent roads, trails or towns near them. I was wondering if someone could tell me more about the history, construction and how they worked. Thanks! Jeff

Looking through my files, do you have a Henderson Cook or his daughter Melvina Cook(1861-1939), or a Norma May Cook in your tree? Melvina Cook married a John William Wion. Norma May Cook (b. 1928) married Guy Kelly. The Shain side of the tree is my husband's side, and the Wion/Kelly side is mine. Stacy ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dennis L. Dennis, I don't have anything on Mary (Turpin) Shain other than that they moved from Kentucky to Sangamon County, Illinois sometime after Thomas Shain's birth in 1819. And my records show "The Turpin family presumably came from Yorkshire, England about 1655 and settled in Henrico county, VA. ...and some settled in S. C. The first record of this Turpin line is Mary Turpin born in S.C...no date on Mary's death". Sorry. Stacy ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dennis L.
