I imagine that cemetery is in Mercer Co, as none by that name in Harrison Co. <<The McLain Cemetery is also known as the New Buda Twp. cemetery and it is located in Decatur Co., IA. If you go to USGenweb to Decatur Co., IA website their is a New Buda township map that shows exactly where it is located. It is in Section 15 where John McLain, Barbara's father first homesteaded in Oct. 1854. In the cemeteries for Decatur Co. look under New Buda and it will show all who are buried there.>> Thanks to Darrell McLain and Mike Mellentine for this information. Barbra Harrison Co. Coordinator
The only Cemetery I found that was close is the McLain Cemtery in Decatur County, Iowa. It is on line at http://www.rootsweb.com/~iadecatu/cemeteryDocs/NBuda.htm and there are several Osborns found in there. There is even a Barbara Osborn buried there (b. Feb 29, 1824 d.Oct 22, 1906) If you notice, the death date is the same, but the year is exactly one off. This Barbara died in her earily 80's. She is buried in the same plot as Jacob Osborn, so they were married. On-line it says "Homemade stone-lettering confusing" so there is a possiblity that this is the cemetery you are looking for. (Expecially since Harrison County, Missouri and Decatur County, Iowa touch, and I have always heard stories of settlers thinking they were in Missouri, and were actually still in Decatur county, and visa versa.) I hope this helps some. Good Luck. I looked in the 'Harrison County Missouri Cemetery Records, Harrison County Genealogical Society, 1985' and found no McClain cemetery in the county. I also looked for a Jacob and Barbara Osborn. No luck (there was a Barbara E. buried in Clay township but she lived from 03-03-1887 to 10-13-1918). I also checked Ringgold and Decatur counties in Iowa. No luck. I have no idea where this McClain Cemetery is but I may have eliminated some places for you. Wayne County in Iowa might be a good place to look. They have no cemetery listing on their website but there are 3 people listed for lookups.
