The children of Willard Shain that I have listed are: Viola Jane, Mary Ethel, Thomas Leonard, Emzella, Rolla Gordon, and Ruby Myrtle. If you need the dates, let me know. I think you may already have this information, but wanted to make sure.

Hi Lisa, I have a John Thornton Sullivan d. 1820, as a possible father of my Mary Sullivan. (Do you happen to have her listed as his daughter?) Do you know where John is buried? If so, have you been to his grave? (The reason I ask is, if you haven't, I may be able to head to that cemetery this weekend, and see what I can find.) Does anyone have any BRIDGES from Eagleville/Brooklyn.Blythedale area? I just realized that I have the surname Bridges on two sides of the tree, and I am wondering if anyone knows how Synthia Ann Bridges (b. June 16, 1823 in Illinois d 4 Sept 1903 bur. Blythedale, Missouri. m. Thomas R. Shain) fits into the other Bridges. I am wondering if she may be a sister to Willis Bridges,--or maybe a cousin. Is her father Allen Bridges (one of the first settlers in Eagleville?) I am hoping someone can tell me who Synthia/Cynthia belongs to. (I am willing to trade any informaition I have.) Thank you for your time. Dear Friends; I have been laid up for most of the last week, but I think I have gotten back with everyone who has helped me, personally. If not, I sincerely apologize. I want to send this note as a general "Thank You!" to all the great people who have helped me out in my endeavor, since I joined this list just a couple weeks ago. And special thanks to Don Knight, Lisa Davis, Donald Derr, Dan Brennan, and Susan Price. You folks have come through for me by the ton! I'm still processing everything! I thank the Lord for Rootsweb, for making all this possible! Many, many thanks, Bob Wilson
Yes, all of this is very familiar. I am related through Blanche Shain and George Davis, then thru their son, Thomas S. Davis and Lavina Hampton Allen. I have also corresponded with someone interested in Viola Jane Shain who I think is Willard's daughter. On Sat, 12 Jan 2002 08:11:59 -0600 "Stacy Smith" <slsmith@grm.net> writes: > Hi Lisa. Hi Lisa. In a "nut shell", my Shains start with John Shain b. abt. 1780 near the mouth of the Kanawha River. He died 4 Sept 1846 in Kentucky. He married Mary Turpin, and they had 8 children: William b. 1803 , Nancy b. 1809, Edward b.1800 Catharine, Blanche Ann b. 1812 d. 5 Nov. 1884, Elizabeth b. 1820?, Emeline b. 1815 d. after 1860., and Thomas R. b. 15 June 1819 d. Dec. 20, 1892. (Thomas R. Shain was the man that Shain Creek was named after.) Thomas married Synthia Ann Bridges (b. 16, June 1823 Illinois) Both are buried at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Blythedale, Missouri. They had Willard Pascal Shain Dec. 22, 1858. Willard married Martha Palmer, and Feb. 25, 1902 they had Ruby Myrtle Shain. In 1917, Ruby married Amos Gillespie (son of James and Mary {Polley} Gillespie). Ruby and Amos were my husbands great grandparents. Does any of this sound familiar? I have heard that the parents of John Shain (b. abt. 1780 near the mouth of the Kanawha River) were Edward and Mary {_?_} Shain/Shane.
