I notice a lot of activity on the board lately with respect to Hartman/Hobbs/Harris ancestry. I am looking for and willing to share what info I have if you will address me at rlaydelott@earthlink.net. Briefly my heritage follows the Mary Alice Spears (Speers) Hartman (m. Jacob Wm. Hartman 9-2-1841) and her subsequent marriage to Lewis Byram (12-1-1852) . My g-grandmother, Alice Caroline Byram (m. Marcus Lafayette Criswell 10-9-1881). Alice Caroline was the youngest of six children born to Mary Alice Hartman Byram and her second husband, Lewis Byram. Lewis enlisted as a Confederate soldier and died of wounds in Macon prison (taken prisoner at the battle of Shiloh). I have been unable to trace his ancestry and would be so eager to hear from any of you on the BYRAM line. I also notice by one of the recent postings that Harden Harris m. Melissa Byram. I have very little information on Harden Harris other than the names of their four children: Willie, Mary Alice, Edna, Marilyn. Melissa Byram was a sister to my g-grandmother, Alice Caroline Byram.
