In 1860, Peninah and Levi are in Guthrie Center Iowa next to Peninah's daughter, Millicent Pickering. Peninah died shortly after that census was taken. In 1861 Joseph is enlisted in the Union army in Rolla Mo. and mustered in at Guthrie Center Iowa. He was discharged in 1863 in Louisiana. Joseph Addison Bailey is my great grandfather and he lived 30 years in Spokane Washington. Martin Luther is said to have died in Libby prison. Jonathan also is listed in Spickard Missouri. I was looking up information on the 1870 census, because I wanted to see if Joseph came to visit in Missouri before heading west. But the 1870 census for Missouri is still not searchable...I cannot find a resource for an automatic search. Any information or corrections would be helpful....
