By request. William Bennett, p. 692-93 WILLIAM BENNETT Was born in Warren county, New York, March 24, 1816. His father, Jeremiah Bennett, also a native of New York, was a leading farmer. His mother's maiden name was Susannah Wilkerson. The family moved to Iowa in 1843 and were residents of that State for twelve years. He then moved to this county and settled npon his present place. Mr. Bennett was united in matrimony in his native county, in 1838, to Miss Mary Ann Somerville. The result of this union is six children, now living: Margaret E., now Mrs. Wm. Chipps; Eleanor; Nancy, now Mrs. Joseph Baldmaut; William S., Richard W., and George M. Both Mr. and Mrs. Bennett have been members of the Baptist Ohnrch for twenty years. He owns a good farm well stocked and abundantly watered. It ia fairly improved and in a fine state of cultivation. Mr. Bennett is one of the oldest settlers. and most highly respected men in the township.
