    3. hello Grundy Co readers. I posted the below message a few min agao. I hadn't looked at it but had sent it to Bob Woods in reply to one he had sent. I hadn't seen that it went to Mo Grundy as well till it cmae back as I am a sub' to this Grundy site also. I want to add thet I also amd a descend of the Joseph and Elizabeth Jackson ROOKS family from their so, William Rooks who mar Mahala Smithson in 1817 in Randolph Co. Ind and moved to grundy when Joseph did in abt 1839/40. It was said that William (Billie) Rooks left there with just dau Millie Maxine Rooks in abt 1862 and never was heard of again.. He was on census in 1860 with a martha age 30 yrs but no mention if she was a wife or a housekeeper and no surname was given for her. Two son's, Smith ( maye been Smithson) , Allen, and Millie were all that were left at home in 1860. Mahala had died abt 1855 as Millie had said she was 9 when mother died. However sha alsosaid she was 9 when she and Wm left there but she was 15 almost 16 when she left there. She is on 1860 census and couldn't have gone to Susanville, Ca before the census. It also was said that Wm, "Billie" Rooks never made contact with anyone after he suddenly left not telling anyone he was leaving and where to. Millie always told her family later she was born in St Joseph Mo but she was not so all of what she told her family was not correct as I have proven not so. So when, date and why, Mahala died is still a mystery as well as where she was burried is still a mystery. I surmise shei is bur in Marion Twp in closest Cem in an unmarked grave. I think they lived in Lindley ??? Is there anyone who can help me solve this mystery of Mahala's death?????? Please, anyone have her name and death date in a old letter, Old family Bible or whatever.. Wm had many relatives there at this time. He was a son of Joseph Rooks and was b 1817 in Clinron Co Oh. Thanks for anye help. My Granmother Effie Cora Brannan was a dau of Millie Maxine Rooks, da of Wm and Mahala Rooks. She also had married to the John Robert Barnett ,son of Wm Anderson Barnett, of the below message. Maxine Wilton.
