    1. [MOGRUNDY-L] Mahala Smithson ROOKS death date needed
    2. Maxine Wilton
    3. Hello all ROOKS descendants.; Descend of Joseph and Elizabeth Jackson ROOKS. I am a 3rd gr gran dau of the above Rooks, My Gr gr granfa was WILLIAM ( BILLIE) ROOKS who mar to MAHAL SMITHSON in 1837 in Randolph Co Ind. They came to Grundy Co Mo when Joseph, his fa., came in abt 1838-1840. They had 6 ch. Isaac b 1838 in Randolph Co Ind. Louisa b 2 or 6th Oct 1839 in Clinton Co Oh at Mahala's parents home. William Harrison b 1841 in Marion TWP Grundy Co Mo. Smith ( Smithson) b abt 1842/3 " " " Allen b abt 1844/5 " " " " Millie Maxine b 1 Oct 1846 " " " " I am still looking for the sons above as to where they went to. Louisa mar Joseph ( Joel) Boring in Clinton Co Oh then with her family went to Mercer Co Oh and died in Van Wert Co oh Jan 1918 bur in Mt Olive Cem. Millie Maxine left with her fa. Wm ( Billie) Rooks in spring of 1862 ( as near as I can figure by imfo I have) and went to Susanville Ca. There Millie Maxien ( my namesake and gr granmo.) turned 16 on 11 Oct 1862 there and mar to Emanuel (Mike) Brannan. They had 12 Ch by 1883 in May when my gran mo. was born . She was a twin and her Twin bro died after birth in Bend DeSchutes Co Or. The family abt 1890 moved to Colfax, Whitman Co Or . Mahala Smithson Rooks, mother of the 6 ch above, died abt 1855 or before the 1860 census was taken. I have not been able to locate any grave for her nor any death date. I am asking all of you descendants to check your bibles and any imfo you may have for any imfo on this death of MAHALA SMITHSON ROOKS, Wm. (Billie) ROOOKS wife. I also would like to know if there was anty newspaper that may have made a note of her death in it and where I may be able to find copies on film to search through those yrs of abt 1855 till found. Millie always said she was 9 yrs old and she was b 11 Oct 1846 so that woulkd make her 9 yrs old Oct 1855. She also said she left and went to Susanville Ca just after she died , which Grundy Co Census prove she did not. She also said she was b in St Joseph Mo. and she was not and was only through there on way to Ca. SO her memory was incorrect on two of these issue's and may even been wrong with the death yr as well. I have been through all Cem's listed on net, checked Clinton Co Oh where her parents lived etc. NOthing. found. Any help will be greatly appreiciated. 1. [MOGRUNDY-L] John Wesley CRAWFORD family
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: CRAWFORD Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/oMB.2ACI/609 Message Board Post: John Wesley CRAWFORD was a Presbyterian minister who, from 1862 to 1894, served various churches in Iowa, Illinois, Kansas and Kentucky. He then left the ministry and for a short time, in 1895-1896, served as Professor of Greek at Avalon College in Trenton, Missouri, which also awarded him the D.D. degree in 1896. With the college failing, and in poor health, in December 1896 he moved to Monett, Missouri, where he died May 13, 1897. He was born November 20, 1836, in Lawrence Co., Indiana, the youngest child of Samuel and Elizabeth (PICKARD) CRAWFORD. He married Emma VANNUYS April 3, 1862, in Franklin, Indiana. They had 7 children, six of whom were living at the time of the 1880 Census: Mary (1864), Edward P. (1867), Francis A. (1869), Grace (December 1870), Ralph W. (1874) and Roland (November 1879). At the time of the 1900 Census, Emma V. CRAWFORD and her unmarried daughter, Grace, were still living in Monett, Pierce Twp., Lawrence Co., Missouri. I am interested in finding out what happened to the rest of Dr. CRAWFORD's family. Are there surviving newspapers from the time, from either Monett or Trenton, containing obituaries that might indicate where the other children were living? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a copy of the Grundy County History, 1881 and I do find mention of an Adam Murray who was one of the founders of Trenton Christian Church. When I was a child and lived in Princeton, MO, I remember one of my classmates was Bobby Murray. A James B. Murray was an officer in the Trenton Lodge, No. 111, A.F. and A.M., in 1881. I will ask my father (who is 90+) if he ever heard of a place called Murrayville....it is always possible.

    1. [MOGRUNDY-L] Mr Scott
    2. I have been told by another researcher that I might get lucky with MrScott on this list---perhaps I could have worded that a bit differently.........anyway, here goes!!! Hey, ya'll, I am gonna go out on a limb here. I am searching for "Mr Scott". haha. no seriously. Amanda Reynolds b app 1808 in Franklin county to Thomas Reynolds 1776, from the Fairfield district SC and Mary Meredith 1782........she married (according to family lore) a Mr Scott, he died after a short time and left her with 2 small boys, SEABORN AND RICHARD (1827 AND 1826)........Seaborn is my gggf. He and Richard were raised in the home of Thomas and Meredith with their mother and went by the name REYNOLDS. His tombstone reads Reynolds, however, should genetically read SCOTT..........I have cousins out there somewhere.........CAN ANYONE HELP ME FIND THEM?! Does ANYONE have a clue or hint as to who he might have been??????? I am willing to go on a bear hunt or wild goose chase if anyone can send me toward the right path.........and I wait anxiously for anyone's ideas on how to spend my time looking! yvette
