In 1850, William H. Dennis and his family are living in Taylor Township of Greene County Missouri. According to this census record, William was born about 1813 in Tennessee. There are 10 Smith children in the household, all of them born in Tennessee. The youngest one is 3 years old, so the family has arrived in Missouri after 1847. One daughter, Nancy Dennis married Sydney Wheeler, and then married the son of a neighbor, Geo. Washington Smith. In 1860, George W. Smith and his young family is living in Laclede County. He likely died in the Civil War, and the widow Smith married William Hendricks/Hendrix abt. 1866 and they are found in Webster Co. Mo. in 1870. I am looking for descendants of Hiram Smith.
