Search Engine Strategies - Lower Case Entries When using Internet search engines to locate Web pages that may contain information about your family members, there are several rules to follow. Type everything in lower case. Most search engines will accept entries typed in all lower case and then search their indexes for matches with Web pages containing the word(s) in lower case, upper case, and mixed case (as in capitalized names). If you enter your search word using any capitalized letters, most search engines will seek matches only on that format of the word(s) you have entered. You therefore may miss many potentially helpful Web pages. Type surnames, locations, and any other data only in lower case and you will obtain more matches in your searches.
