James and Martha Russell came to Greene County about 1843 from Giles County, TN. They had a farm in Washington Township and raised nine children who married into the Samuel, Flow, Everly, Felton, Pickel, and Rogers families. Many are buried in Dodson Cemetery in Clay Township.
