    2. >From Abstract of Title, Lawson-Gibbs Title Co. Will of Solomon H. Owen, Springfield, Mo. Office of the Recorder, Greene County, Mo. Book 32, Page 105. I, Soloman H. Owen of the County of Greene and state of Missouri, being sound in body, mind and memory calling to mind the uncertainty of life, do make and publish this my last will and testament in manor {sic} and form following viz: In the first place I desire all my just debts and funeral expenses paid, secondly: I will and bequeath to my beloved wife Mary E. Owen, all my household and kitchen furniture and all my money notes and evidences of debt to me belonging during natural life to be divided after her death as hereinafter directed. I have heretofore given to my daughter Susanna A. Julian and Pleasand B. Owen and Charles B. Owen and Jesse W. Owen, all the land that I intended for them, and now give and bequeath to my son Wm. S. Owen their fourties of land lying east west on the south boundary of my land called the old place in Section three (3) in Township Twenty nine (29) Range Twenty two (22) and further I bequeath to my faithful former slaves and present servand! {sic} Rachel Owen twenty acres of land bounded as follows viz: During her natural life Beginning twelve poles west of the North west corner of the east 1/2 of Lot six (6) of the Northeast qr Sec three (3) Twon;ship twenty nine (29) Range Twenty two (22) thence fifty four poles (54) to a stake thence west sixty poles (60) to a stake, thence North fifty four (54) poles to a stake thence east sixty poles (60) poles to the beginning during her natural life. I will and desire that the remainder of my old tract of land say about 260 A shall be sold for cash, or on time as my executors may think best, and out of the price I will and desire that shall put out at interest Three thousand dollars to be secured by real estate to double the amount for the sole use and benefit of my son Wm. S. Owen, and if he should die, the said interest I desire shall be used in raising and educating his offspring by the present wife, or so much thereof, as is necessary and the three thousand dollars! is to go to said heirs at his or their majority. And further, I will and desire that the remainder of my property both real and personal be sold and the price divided as well as the remainder of the price of the land into five parts to each heir an equal share, but desire the share of falling to my son Pleasand B. Owen he is draw six hundred dollars and his present wife and her children by that marriage draws the remainder and further will to Rachel Owen one cow and calf one sow and pigs and fixtures and wheel and cards and the land heretofore given her at her death is to be sold and price equally divided among the above named children. And I furthermore hereby constitute and appoint my executors of this my last will and testament Charles B. Owen and John M. Wood. Written with my own hand this 9th day June 1875. Signed: Solomon H. Codicil made 5 April 1874; ...ratify and confirm my said will in all respects save so far as the same or any part thereof, may be revoked or altered by this present codicil and in particular save so far as relates to the sum of Three thousand dollars arising out of the sale of my said real estate and which said sum to be put out at interest and the interest for the sole use and benefit of my son William S. Owen, which particular I do hereby revoke and alter my said will and in lieu thereof do change said amount to the sum of Two thousand dollars, which said sum I do hereby direct and order shall be invested as thereinbefore directed...... D. 1874, before me the undersigned Clerk of the Probate & Common Pleas Court of the County of Greene....personally came James G. Wood and L. A. D. Crenshaw....on their oath say they saw Solomon H. Owen the testator subscribe his name to the annexed instrument in writing and heard him declare the same to be his last will and testament... Signed: James G. Wood L. A. D. Crenshaw Sworn to E. D.
