James Edward Hampton, 51, of Springfield [Greene], MO, passed away on July 6, 2001, at the Christian Health Care Center. He was born on Nov. 27, 1949, at St. Louis, the son of Edward E. and Nettie (Jackson) Hampton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Kassabaum Hampton. He proudly served his nation in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam and the Gulf War. He was a graduate of Southwest State University in Springfield with a Master Degree in business administration. Besides his parents, he is survived by two daughters, Michelle and husband, Rodney Jackson and Erica Hampton, both of Bozeman, Montana; by a brother, Stephen and wife, Leesa Hampton of Jacksonville, FL; by six sisters: Mary and husband, Larry Cross of Poplar Bluff; Diana and husband, Bill Watson of Buford, GA; Sheila and husband, Darrell Faire of Jackson, MO; Lorna and husband, Mark Daganaar of Thibodaux, LA; Laura Hampton of Tulsa, OK; Elaine and husband, Tim Adams of Peoria, IL; by three grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday after 5 p.m. at the Cozean Funeral Home [Farmington, MO]. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Cozean Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Swofford officiating. Burial will follow at Doe Run Memorial Cemetery [St. Francois County, MO]. Memorials may be directed to the Church of God Youth Camp at the Lake of the Ozarks.
