George Sterling Hill died in Safford, Ariz., Wednesday, July 11, 1928, at the age of 56 years, 1 month and 1 day. Funeral services were conducted at the Flat River Christian Church [St. Francois County, MO] by the pastor, Rev. E. B. Hensley Tuesday, July 17, 1928 at 2:30 p.m. Interment was made in Woodlawn cemetery. George Hill was the son of the late James H. and Jane Small Hill and was born in Greene County, Mo., June 10, 1872. On July 26, 1893 he was married to Julia Ann Bilderback. To this union, ten children were born, three of whom died in infancy. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. G. S. Hill and seven children, Mrs. J. H. Close, Mrs. N. W. Meyer and James M. Hill of Esther, Clarence S. Hill, of St. Louis and Sidney, Earl and Alline at home, two brothers, J. H. Hill of Womack, Mo., and A. J. Hill of Silsbee, Texas and three sisters, Mrs. J. F. Stephen of Revere, Mo., Mrs. J. B. Mason of Springfield, Mo. and Mrs. T. E. Brown of Oklahoma City, Okla., and five grandchildren. In early boyhood he united with the Christian church and about 20 years ago, he placed his membership with the Flat River Christian Church. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge No. 737 of Cantwell. On March 12, 1928, he left here hoping a change of climate would benefit his health but he continued to grow worse. The News extends sympathy to those bereaved.
