Bill, Thank you for the clarification in the spelling of William Tulle Townsend's name and also thank you for the links to the other information. My aunt, Mary Ella Harman Phipps, said she remembered, Ora and Wm. Ernest, but she lost track of them and didn't have any idea where they had lived. Do you have any further information on Ora or Wm. Ernest and their children? Thanks again. Tom, I am pleased to help when I can. I found some data (source unknown) that Ora's husband was Thomas K. SMITH. She was still with William T. TOWNSEND in the 1920 census so she may have married after forty and never had children. According to the 1910 & 1920 censuses, William E. TOWNSEND's children are Cecile M., William M. and Mary E. M. There is some confusion between the two censuses (name and birthplace) concerning the youngest child. These could be transcription errors. I'm afraid I don't any more about these descendants. Dear Pam, I think we have communicated before about the Tillmans. My interest is because on of my Russells of Greene County married into the Everly family and one of the Everlys married into the Tillman family. I have looked at some of the Plat maps of that area and see that they were all neighbors. Elaine Russell Coffman

I am interested in a number of families who migrated from Maury Co., TN to Greene Co., MO about 1831. Surnames include Akins, Blackman, Cates, Craig, Cragg, Galloway, Johnson, Jameson, McKee, McKnight, Roundtree (Rountree), Fitzgerald. These all lived as neighbors in TN to the various Polk families who were early Missouri settlers. I have much info on these families from Maury Co. records and will gladly share. Many thanks, Ruth Nashville, TN

Stephen.......In the WWI "Honor Roll of Greene County" there are two men listed with the last name of CROW: PVT. Elvus R. Crow, born Fairplay, MO, July 16, 1899. Son of Melvina and James A. Crow. Volunteered May 1, 1917. Battery B, 76th Field Artillery. Sailer for France March 16, 1918. Fought in battles of St. Mihiel, Verdun, Chateau Thierry and Argonne Forest. Wounded in Battle of Chateau Thierry. Army of Occupation. The other, Howard W. Crow, was born in Arkansas, so don't know if he would be relevant to your search. Pamela GATES HARTMAN
This is for the whole list. I live in Greene County, and the Family Library Center is not to far from where I live. I was able to go there a couple weeks ago to do some research for a couple people. Here is what the library has: Missouri History books (they have tons!), Missouri Periodicals, Newspapers starting from 1844 to present (by subject and name indexing to make it easier), Information Files (which include photographs), Statutes and Bills, Missouri Maps, Missouri Census 1830-1920, Online Marterials (from 1881 to present), City Directories, Civil War Materials, Native Americans (Index to Final Rolls of the Five Civilized Tribe (Dawes Rolls), Index to Enrollment of Eastern Cherokee by Guion Miller, 1908-1910 and other material, Missouri Genealogy (records of birth, death, marriage, probate, etc., cemetery transcriptions, funeral home records, land records, and other records that have been transcribed or microfilmed), Genealogy General, Family Histories (lots of them!), (immigration indexes, indexes to Revolutionary War records, SSD Benefit Records 1937-93, some census, bibliography and "how to" works, family history CD-ROMS), Additional Items of Interest (local High School and College Yearbooks; R. Ritchie Robertson Material; and Library Archive. There you go! I've seen a lot of questions as to what they all have, and so I picked up a sheet they hand out to the public the last time I went. I would be more than happy to look up information for people. I need to know exact dates, and exact info as to what you are trying to find. Such as a death record, or census record etc., and what year. I don't charge, because I don't think that's right. However, I can only go one day a week which is usually on Friday or Saturday if I'm lucky. I know the place pretty well, and took a genealogy class from them. They did receive some new equipment so that later on I will be able to email you everything that is microfilmed. They are still working on that, and getting it set up! I hope this helps someone. I enjoy doing research, because I learn a lot myself. Take care everyone, and please feel free to e-mail me! Suzanne:)

Posted on: Greene Co. Mo Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mo/Greene/10905 Surname: Fitzhugh ------------------------- I found at Ancestry.com the index for census taken when Green Co. was formed in 1833. It listed 3 Fitzhugh - James, Thomas, William. My GG grandfather Thomas, son of James was born in Jackson Co in 1826. James was rumored to be a Marshall and shot in the line of duty ca 1835-36. I can find Thomas in Pettis Co in Nov 1839 when he is appointed a guardian, but have no idea where his family was between 1826 and 1839. The James in Green Co. in 1833 is the only possibility I can find. Does anyone know who this man was? Are there records of the census taken when the county was formed on file somewhere in Green co.? Any help would be much appreciated.

Stephen, If the name Nancy Medina CROW Anderson is an indication of family relation, there were CROWs north of Springfield in the 60s. I don't know anything about them today. Fred
Fred: Thank you for your response. It got me to thinking, which I rarely do now adays. I am not sure if the Crows you speak of north of Springfield were my relatives or not. Could very well be that my Nancy Medina Crow, supposedly born 5 Oct 1887 in Shelby County (although a second cousin thought Nancy was born in Novelty, Knox County, Missouri) to Reverend Edward Mace Crow and Mary Alice Green was visiting her Crow relatives. Pretty naive of me to think that because her Anderson family was living in Kansas that she would not visit her family from time to time. My problem is that I don't know who Nancy's siblings were and was hoping an obituary may indicate what happened and who she was related to. Thanks for getting me thinking.

I don't believe I have family in Greene County, but as I understand it one of my relatives died there in 1961. If someone has access to the obituaries or death records could you check for Nancy Medina Crow Anderson, who I am told died in Springfield, Greene Co., Missouri on 26 Feb 1961. She was supposed to have been born in Shelby Co., Missouri in 1887, and she was buried in Pratt, Kansas. I don't know whether she was just passing through Greene County, visiting a relative or actually living there at the time. Her husband, Ralph David Anderson was supposedly living in Wichita, Kansas when he died in 1969. Thank you very much. Stephen Carlile Salem, Oregon
