    1. Re: [MOGreene] Greene Co. Missouri 1850 census
    2. Elaine, Thank you for the census look-up. I do think this is likely the Margaret A. Smith I am looking for . This family must have been in Missouri in 1840 because the first child, Martha, 13 born in Missouri. If this is the right Margaret, she married Benjamin F. Dennis in 1864. Benjamin F. Dennis was the son of William Dennis who is in Greene Co. in 1850, also. Its hard to figure out all the Smith connections in Greene Co. (anyway for me). I am actually researching the Hiram Smith family who is in Greene Co. , 1850 and 1860. The Hiram Smith and William Dennis families connect at least one time, that I can prove. Thank you again for your time to help me. Wanda

    1. Re: [MOGreene] Greene Co. Missouri 1850 census
    2. Dear Wanda, I found a Rebecca F. Smith in Taylor Township Family #1485. She was 32 years old and born in TN and had the following children: Martha J. age 13 born in MO Mary E. age 11 born in MO Louisa E. age 9 born in MO Margarette A. age 7 born in MO Amanda K. age 5 born in MO Sarah L. age 2 born in MO Evidently her husband died before 1850, probably between 1847 and 1850 since the youngest daughter is two years old. Imagine six little girls. Do you think this is your family? Some of their neighbors are James Parton, John Eddings, Bailey Eddings, Dabney Hooper, Richard Price and several Sayers families. I have a paper copy of the 1850 census for Greene County so would be glad to look up more for you. My James Russell and Mary Cammel are listed in Finley Township. 1. [MOGreene] Greene Co. Missouri 1850 census
    2. Can someone look up the following on the 1850 Greene county census? In 1860, Margaret Smith is found in Greene Co., Taylor Township, in the Rebecca Smith household. Likely Rebecca is the Mother of Margaret. I would like to find Rebecca with a husband in the 1850 census, most likely in Taylor township. Thank you, Wanda

The 1870 Census for Boone Township in Greene County, Missouri suggests a birthdate for Sterling of about 1862. Can you verify if this date is incorrect? Also, e-mail to the address listed for you is being bounced back to me. Is it correct? Mitch

A graveside service was held in Pueblo, CO, 14 August 1934. I am wondering if a newspaper obituary might have appeared in the Springfield newspapers, since Lucy's sister, Jessie Harrell, lived in Springfield at the time of Lucy's death, and since Lucy herself was a former resident of Springfield. I'd appreciate any help you can give me!

    3. Posted on: Greene Co. Mo Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mo/Greene/10924 Surname: PAINTER, MONTGOMERY ------------------------- Mary E. MONTGOMERY married Eli Jake PAINTER in Greene County, Missouri about 1870. She may have been born about 1850. I know nothing more about her than just that. I know much more about Mary and Eli's children. Some of them were born in the town of Walnut Grove. One of their sons was named Sterling. That's a very uncommon name. After reading about your Sterling MONTGOMERY in Walnut Grove, I think there is a pretty fair chance that he was the brother of Mary. I'd be delighted to learn more from you. Perhaps we can work together and figure that family out. They are indeed a mystery.
